Then there's no answer. cos(x) - 4 = 0 doesn't have a solution because the range of Cos(x) is limited from -1 to 1. cos(x-4) = 0, on the other hand, has solutions at x = 94 and x = 184, as cos(x) = 0 at 90 degrees and 180 degrees. Zanarkin Posted December 17, 2011 Share Posted December 17, 2011 (edited) welll... here is the whole eqn 2cos^3 x -9cos^2 x + 3cos x + 4 = 0 So i substituded cos for y, made FT (got y-1 as factor) then long divided, and factored the quadratic equation. The other answer was 2y+1 and y-4... I did something wrong somewhere... Someone halp. This question is annoying me for a while...
