The two major reasons for banning stages are over centralizing a single tactic/strategy, and marginalizing player skill. Now I see all the more why people joke about "No items, Fox only, Final Destination" I don't know, to me one of the biggest appeals about the Smash Bros franchise is the 'randomness' in it. I can understand why people sometimes turn off items (especially, say, the hammer and Final Smash), but that kinda ruins part of the fun. Same goes with the stages. Space Armada and Area 6 for Star Fox really made me smile, since those were my two favorite levels. And, of course, love the little 'Rise to the Challenge' bit in the Fire Emblem one.
