Dr. Tarrasque
There is now. There is? Who? @Lux: CONGRATS LITTLE MAN. Edited July 9, 2012 by Sirius
Ϲharlie
Eh, it's Contra, so I don't think the point was the storyline. The final stage and boss was... much easier than the previous stages. The ones with the 3D-ish perspective were the hardest. Now play Super C, but don't bother with Contra Force. There is? Who? Don't feign ignorance. Dr. Tarrasque
Now play Super C, but don't bother with Contra Force. Don't feign ignorance. Don't listen to this foolish White Knight. Go ahead and jump into Contra 3 on the SNES. I'm not.
Lux Aeterna
@Lux: CONGRATS LITTLE MAN. It was really hard, but the snow level and the base before it was the worst. The former because of those stupid tanks where I basically I had to jam on the shoot button; the latter because I just hate that perspective so much. Now play Super C, but don't bother with Contra Force. Alrighty, then. Don't listen to this foolish White Knight. Go ahead and jump into Contra 3 on the SNES. AHHHHH CONFLICT Edited July 9, 2012 by Lux Aeterna

Best strategy is grab the Spread Gun and Rapid Fire power ups and don't die.
Ϲharlie
Don't listen to this foolish White Knight. Go ahead and jump into Contra 3 on the SNES. Contra to Contra 3 is far too steep of a jump in difficulty for a beginner. Even ignoring that, its overhead levels have incredibly bad controls. Those alone are enough to spoil an otherwise great game for me. I'm not. http://ppdnotsonic.free.fr/FE4THREAD%20folder/S/ how many bad guy Sirius screens do you see

I'm not doing anything bad right now though.

When you say "overhead" do you mean those stupid things with the laser fences because I hate those Or do you mean "overhead" like "TLoZ" overhead? Because that seems even weirder... Ϲharlie
I generally just went for the "M" powerups. The machine gun is one of the better weapons, but the spread gun definitely trumps all. When you say "overhead" do you mean those stupid things with the laser fences because I hate those Or do you mean "overhead" like "TLoZ" overhead? Because that seems even weirder... I mean overhead like the Legend of Zelda. Overhead levels were first introduced in Super C as a replacement for the "shooting gallery" style levels in the original. Personally, I prefer the pseudo 3D levels, but that's just me. The overhead levels in Super C controlled similarly to Zelda, but the ones in Contra 3 were completely different. Ϲharlie
I can't imagine them being even remotely enjoyable using a keyboard. They're hardly passable using a controller.
Dr. Tarrasque
The first one's easy even with a keyboard. Stage 5 with a keyboard though.... unpleasant. Lux'll probably need Save States, unshakeable patience and the WILL to beat it.

Here is an excellent summary of Contra's plot: [spoiler=Contra's plot summarized] That's all you need to know about the plot in any of the games in series.
