As everyone here already knows, I am finally leaving Serenes. Starting on sometime January 1st, I shall no longer be around; if you want to rejoice and/or show me a finger (and let me know), you'll have a full day to do it - maybe two, but no more than that, so don't worry. I don't expect to come back, but I'll refrain from account suiciding just in case. If you need me for some reason (like Fujimori proofreading or something), you can probably reach me on MAL or Steam if you know what you're doing. So... yeah. It was fun. Thanks guys, and take care. Sometimes I get confused by verbs ending いけません sometimes I think it's negative sometimes it's not how do you tell when's which? 3. When translating sometimes I have difficulty finding various ways to word stuff like verbs ending with -そうです, -みたい, and some words like 一斉射撃, - 関係/関係ない, ー気持ち悪い 4. I guess this might be a stupid question but how important is it for you to be able to write kanji? Right now I can recognize some kanji and the furigana but I can't write them how do you usually practice writing and memorizing them? Thanks and sorry for bothering you. (To me, you and Rey have this aura of intimidation thing whenever I ask questions to you guys.) When translating sometimes I have difficulty finding various ways to word stuff verbs ending with -そうです or -みたい The Japanese like to play safe when making statements That's why they can say stuff like "it seems this ship is sinking" with a straight face You don't always need to translate things word-by-word - and in fact, you should avoid doing it, or you'll get mangled, unnatural English as result Understand what it means, then think about how you'd word it in English and some words like 一斉射撃 Japanese structure makes it easy for them to devise effective war cries like that; it's just natural that many would sound odd when directly translated to English What's a word or two there can easily become an entire phrase when translated - 関係/関係ない, ー気持ち悪い Use online dictionaries, look at their example sentences and try getting some ideas 4. Learning how to write kanji is only really useful to memorize the ideograms properly, tbh; makes it easier to tell similar kanji apart I didn't do a lot of kanji practicing, but there's only one way - write them again and again and again and again Writing words with the kanji you're studying is more effective than writing them alone, though (To me, you and Rey have this aura of intimidation thing whenever I ask questions to you guys.)
