Long has he waited in the fringes, watching the yearly tournament with desire. When he was but a young'in he had surprised his foes and toppled giants, though he still came up short in the end. "Soon," he reminded himself, "Soon! Soon I will be ready to face them down again!" He returned to the arena a year ago, eager to test what he could do. So close he had come to ending the demon he faced twice before, But once again it used deceit to end his chances, and he was forced to wait again. But now his legs were getting stronger, his teeth sharper, and his stomach growled with hunger. Rodents, thousands of rodents flooded the floor below him, acting as a warning to his foes as the cat slowly stepped into the light.
