So even if you were a radical communist, you would be hard-pressed to know what's going on if you refused to read mainstream newspapers (or TV, etc) - which had to sell, so they couldn't afford looking too biased. Nowadays, you can find news sites biased towards every political or religious spectrum, so you can comfortably choose the one that agrees with you while downright ignoring all the rest. Facebook automatically filters comments from people you don't agree. People live in bubbles where they find out there are people who agree with them, no matter how wrong they are, and they become more and more extreme in their views. Either you are missing my point, or I got what you originally said wrong. From what you said it seemed like internet was the only to blame for people being extremist. It does make it much worse, however, people have been extremists way before it. Also, even if you read all sort of sources, be them pro or against what you believe, you'll most likely filtrate everything and ignore whatever goes against what you believe.
