I heard about the book before i heard about the movie. But i sorta just ignored it and put it on the "Ill Get To It Eventually" pile. Then the movie came out and i went and saw it. I was not impressed with it. I found its protagonist hideously flat and the presentation tired. The world of Panem did not intrigue me. I heard a lot of HG fans saying how faithful the movie was to the book and i even read a couple of passages. I was equally unimpressed with that. Katniss still feels very bland despite being in her head. The world still seems just as colorless. While i know Panem is dystopian, i didnt feel it intriguing. I can hang with stories written in the Key of Crapsack (im an ASOIAF fan come on), this world just didnt do it for me. It felt like...ive seen it all before. But with me, if a show is like an hour long or more, One Episode Rule applies. Cuz thats a good deal of time to show a bunch. Ya know? Ive never seen House of Cards, im guessing it has a slow start? I like the idea of Netflix exclusives though. Its neat! Not really, but it isn't episodic. No network was willing to buy it without a standalone pilot.
