The thing is that Trump's election program includes content which goes back to dark times from the past. Wanting a wall on Mexico's border (honestly I don't even think it will ever be built) is a sign of isolation and brings the country back to simliar times like while "Cold War". Well, I was only a half year old when the Berlin Wall fell but literally everyone was happy when it happened except for the border patrols and some DDR politicians who lost their job. I know it's a horrible comparison since East Berlin was an isolated area unlike Mexico, but still... the effect of a wall will be the same for the Mexicans and some Americans. You feel discredited and economically screwed. All the US people who work in Mexico and the Mexican people who work in the US will lost their job. Bad enough I think. Not just them. In fact, my own home state currently houses a good number of Haitian immigrants, unable to enter the US.
