You can't call capitalistic welfare states socialist, can you? The last couple of decades, the biggest party in Norway who call themselves social democrats, have leaned further and further towards pure capitalism. They built a sturdy, socialist welfare system in the thirties and kept it quite strong the first few decades after WWII. Commercialism has hit here like everywhere else but we always had a sturdy government basis where welfare has been considered most important and worked very well. People who lost their jobs, elders, sick people etc have been taken care of with no need for insurance, and we have still been among the richest nations in the world (per citizen) with low unemployment.
