In fact, I find some of my best linework came from my calc-class doodles. Hold on, I'll post one soon. By doodling in class, but actually drawing legit figures, you increase your practice time. In art, practice makes better pretty damn fast. my style evolves every month, and I've been doing this for pretty much all my life. Just practice a lot. You'll NEVER be perfect, no matter how much you try. The fact that you're GIVING UP because you tried to COPY your reference and couldn't, instead of trying a few times to see if you could get it right, is sad. You say you want to be an okay artist, but you're not even willing to put as much effort into practicing as you are for complaining.
