Krad
You can't recruit neither Frey or Norne in HM.

Hero
You might have noticed you didn't get a prologue, either. It and everything in it is exclusive to normal mode, since it was designed to be a crutch for beginners.
Ike-Mike
You'd really think that after the two previous Akaneia games IS would retcon Frey and Norne to being there all along?
Momo
They had no problem retconning like six entirely new chapters into the game. Norne is also a recruit Marth is only aware of right before they start fighting.

Norne is also a recruit Marth is only aware of right before they start fighting. Which only show up if you are doing poorly at the game or killing off units purposefully to get to them. And even then, they're clearly set up as side quests that are not involved in the main story. Under normal circumstances, they aren't a part of the storyline at all. Honestly, I'd say that it's likely that, just like it appears that Frey dies in canon and that Norne isn't recruited normally, those chapters only happen in canon under "special circumstances". Momo
Any units that aren't Sheeda, Jagen or Draug (Marth's death quotes and the ending) are completely disposable. Them dying doesn't change the story at all, so the new chapters cen be seen as retonned sidestories (gaidens if you will).

If your units die of you get the replacement units In other words it affects your gameplay
