General Spoon
I've heard this term tossed around a bit. Would anyone like to actually define it?
nflchamp
It's strictly important for tiering and comparisons. Once a couple of stats for a unit are capped, instead of just dumping BEXP on them, you get a unit close to a level up through combat and then finish the level off with BEXP. Obviously only one level can be gained in this way at a time, hence "slow-playing." It reduces the cost of taking large amounts of BEXP by spreading it out and making more available to the rest of the team at any given time. Sergeant Avocado
Basically what nflchamp said. It's used for characters that have growths so poor that BEXP might actually be better for leveling, like Lucia for example. It could also be used for units who ram certain caps but need help with other's, like Ike and his speed.

Even Lucia is going to do better off of CEXP levels, though not that much better. All the units who start w/ less than 300% growths are laguz, and you might not want to BEXP level them since their highest growths are HP and Luck, which means you only have one stat to go to other areas. It's not even that. If you slowplay BEXP on Lucia, she gets at most 3 levels - one in 4-2, one in 4-5, and one in 4-E-1. She simply doesn't have enough playtime to slowplay effectively, since she needs to gain like 10 levels in two chapters to be ready for Endgame. Plus, it pretty much destroys her chance of getting defence and strength, since they're her worst and third worst growths respectively.
