Life
Chapter 13x - The Peddler Merlinus Team: Eliwood, Marcus, Lowen, Rebecca, Dorcas, Bartre, Hector, Oswin, Serra, Matthew, Guy Notes: Puzon really isn't that dangerous when he tries to take out Marcus. Marcus hit him once for 20 damage, allowing Eliwood to finish him off. But I need to check what he does on HHM. Lowen is wonderful. 10 Spd? Pretty sure that my Kent doesn't even have that much Spd at level 7/8. Soldiers suck so much that base level Oswin doubles them and level 9 Dorcas one hits them with the Steel Axe. The cavs are strong, though. Even though most of my units 2RKO each one, they can still deliver decent damage to my fighters and lords. Guy had it easy against the pirates, though. Life
Chapter 15 - Noble Lady of Caelin Team: Eliwood, Marcus, Lowen, Hector, Oswin, Serra, Guy, Erk, Lyn (Turn 1), Kent (Turn 1), Sain (Turn 1), Florina (Turn 1), Wil (Turn 1) Notes: 7 turns? That's like almost impossible. Had to send Eliwood and Hector via the mountain route as fast as possible while everyone else went through the forest. Made it in 7 turns but it was incredibly tight. Hector Wolf Beiled Bauker to death. Marcus with a Steel Lance is probably better than Marcus with a Silver Lance. 1 hit thanks to his -2 AS penalty and he knocks most cavs and other guys down to like 3 HP. Eliwood is rather freaking durable but he can't double shit. It's getting slightly annoying. Life
Does this mean that you're going to give up some turns on the pirate ship in order to farm up a bit more EXP? I don't know. Probably not because the Exp from that is meager (2 pegs a turn, was it?). I think I need to do a ton of arena and reinforcement abusing in FFO. Which might mean an early peg promo which is not something I want to do but I'll do it if I need to. Also, I'll need to go to Genesis for the extra Tactics and Exp there. Mori and I had a bit of a disagreement on that chapter since Mori thinks that Genesis is a waste of time and I feel I can finish the Hard Mode version in 12~13 turns (12~13 turns under the limit). He held off the Cav reinforcements with Oswin because I didn't want Oswin to hog all of the Exp. Rebecca was actually decent in taking out the archers in the sealed off room. Meh Avo but she always doubled them. Bartre with the Hammer destroyed Bernard while sitting on a piller (1 Def, 20 Avo) which was nice. Life
Chapter 16x - Port of Badon Team: Eliwood, Oswin, Priscilla, Lyn, Florina, Raven, Canas (Turn 1) Notes: Wow, the differences between Normal and Hard are ridiculous. I can only field 6 people including Eliwood? Thank god it's mostly pirates so at least Eliwood doesn't suck here. This chapter took a lot of tries and then I had to redo it because I felt I could clear out the rushing enemies much faster than my first attempt. It also took a lot of different item combinations. Eventually I gave Raven all of Guy's weapons (an Iron Sword and the Killing Edge), Oswin got the Horseslayer and Lyn and Eliwood used Iron Swords. Oswin had to hold the southern Damian charge. I got Florina to trigger the pirates on Turn 1 rather than Turn 2 this time but I still got Canas with her. Then she did her flying thing while Raven and Canas guarded the northern houses, Oswin stood fast with his Horseslayer at the south with Eliwood and Lyn went north. Most of the damage I did was on the enemy phase because I kept retreating to make sure that I would expose my guys to unnecessary danger. Managed to finish it off in 6 turns which was a huge boon for Tactics and Exp. I can't wait to try this chapter with a HHM boosted Raven. Oh and here's a little treat. Do you think that a 20/20 Raven with the Killing Edge can kill him? Integrity
I 5-starred EXP handily until Chapter 18 or 19, and despite not having used Marcus except for Noble Lady of Caelin I can't seem to bring it back. :(
Balcerzak
Notes: Wow, the differences between Normal and Hard are ridiculous. I can only field 6 people including Eliwood? Thank god it's mostly pirates so at least Eliwood doesn't suck here. Oh yeah, coming straight from NM, you're definitely going to be feeling the deployment spot squeeze. This chapter was probably hit hardest, but Pirate ship isn't pleasant either, if memory serves. Run stats:Tactics - 69/80 (5 stars) Exp - 6725/6200 (5 stars) 5 and a bit level buffer. This is going to end up being tight. I am interested in how these numbers continue to develop, as I lack much early game XP data from my run. I actually had one save still left at the Pirate Ship by the time I realized I was in trouble (Dragon's Gate) and actively started recording XP, so I can finally provide a reference point. My Exp at that point was in the rough ballpark of 6500 (uncertainties exist due to my not having noted Lyn Mode levels), so you're ahead of the curve at the moment, probably due to having used considerably less Marcus than I had. (My Marcus here was at 4.16.) I 5-starred EXP handily until Chapter 18 or 19, and despite not having used Marcus except for Noble Lady of Caelin I can't seem to bring it back. :( Are you past Genesis? That was when I finally managed to get back in the black as far as XP goes. Best chapter for rankings, ever IMO.

(My Marcus here was at 4.16.) I'll talk about Pirate Ship in a second. As for the Exp, I haven't been spamming Marcus but he's seen his fair share of action. However, I loaded him up with the Heavy Spear during Whereabouts Unknown so that he wouldn't double enemies. Worked out nicely too. Chapter 17 - Pirate Shit Ship Team: Eliwood, Lowen, Hector, Serra, Matthew, Guy, Priscilla, Lucius Notes: This one was also a doozy. Since the starting positions suck, the mercenaries and shamans actually fully rush onto the main ship instead of getting stopped halfway. Did my shopping on Turn 1 (leaving enough for 2 Silver Carded Killer Weapons) and then started to fight back. What was nice was that Lowen, Eliwood and Hector are all tanks and took like 1 or 2 damage a hit without being doubled (often). I also abused the pole in the middle of the ship (made a wall with it so that the mercenaries couldn't get to my squishier units like Prissy, Guy, Lucius and Serra) which helped. Matthew stole the two Pure Waters and the Vulnerary from the Shamans. Once the immediate area got cleared out, Lowen, Hector and Eliwood finished off the rest of the mercenaries on the bridges with Priscilla playing healer. Guy, Lucius, Matthew and Serra slowly pushed their way down to Zoldam. Problem was that Turn 7 rolled around and the reinforcements from the south started coming. Lucius headed back towards the center of the ship while Lowen and Eliwood turned their attention south to the mercenaries. Hector wanted to kill them too but he had to deal with the myrmidons and peg knight coming from the southeast. And since I needed another attacker for the last turn, I had Matthew steal the Guiding Ring from Zoldam on Turn 10, tank a Luna shot and then retreated him back to kill another Shaman on Turn 11. Guy then sat in front of Zoldam with his Killing Edge and finished him off during the Enemy Phase of Turn 11, giving me an 11 turn clear instead of 12 turns. What made my day was watching Mercenaries tink Eliwood. Honestly, I laughed so hard when it happened. Chapter 18 - The Dread Isle Team: Eliwood, Marcus, Dorcas, Matthew, Serra, Erk, Prissy, Lyn, Sain, Florina, Raven, Canas, Dart (Turn 1), Fiora (Turn 4) Notes: I decided to do something smart for a change. Before I started the chapter, I checked all of the nearby enemy stats. Guess how happy I was when I realized that Flo can ORKO the thief with the Torch Staff and a Steel Sword Matthew could barely ORKO the Steel Axe Pirate sitting nearby. The rest is all history. Marcus went down the right side, slaughtering everything in his way. Dart, Serra, Raven and Canas took the island while Lyn, Eliwood, Dorcas, Sain and Prissy followed the land route. Once Fiora appeared, Florina flew back to recruit her and she took out the pirates with her shiny Axereaver (she actually went through half of it but also gained a level and a third). Matthew had a field day against the northern-eastern pirates at the same time. Once the army got to Uhai on the 7th turn, Marcus, Dorcas, Canas and Raven all worked together to dispose of him. Interceptor
That pole in the middle of the ship is pretty awesome. I'm playing through HHM now, and I was having a heck of a time getting my turns down on the chapter until I noticed that fliers (aka enemy pegs) could not pass through it, making it much easier to protect the squishies. Also, I have to say that it was pretty gutsy to risk not one, but TWO Luna crits from the boss in that chapter.

And every single time, I end up with just under 1500 Exp when I need 2100. The Exp rank is fucking ludicrous. I loaded Marcus up with the Silver Card and sent him towards the bottom right Secret Shop accompanied by Fiora, Erk and Sain. Lucius and Rebecca hung around the entrance, killing Mages, Peg Knights and Archers. The three lords headed north to Darin while Prissy floated around doing healing work while Bartre and Matthew cleared out the treasure room. I had fallen to 4 stars here, and this was my wake up call. Well, more of the fact that it didn't immediately bounce back when I finished New Resolve, but close enough. This is when I started keeping detailed recording of XP gains. At any rate, I honestly don't think there's a way to both end with a reasonable turn count here and get much more XP than that. Life
Chapter 20 - New Resolve Team: Eliwood, Rebecca, Serra, Florina, Raven, Lucius, Dart, Legault, Ninian (Turn 1) Notes: Wow. This chapter can get really hectic. The general idea is that everyone moved east and killed stuff while Florina did the shopping and village visiting. Honestly, I love the arena. Legault got a couple of levels, Rebecca got a level, Lucius got some training in and even Raven took a whack at a guy. But the Hard Mode enemies are too hard. I saw a Soldier with 44 HP (level 15 IIRC) which was ridiculous. Eliwood is a tank. He literally is. 30 HP and 12 Def at level 13. Last time I had a Spd blessed Hector. Now I've got a Def blessed Eliwood (supposed to have 8.6 +/-1.6 Def at this level). This happens about 1% of the time. Awesome. Life
Chapter 21 - Kinship's Bond Team: Eliwood, Lowen, Rebecca, Hector, Matthew, Guy, Erk, Priscilla, Lyn, Sain, Ninian, Isadora (Turn 1), Heath (Turn 2), Rath (Turn 5) Notes: Wow. I just realized that Eubans moves in Hard Mode. And killing Eubans ends the chapter. Which sucks when he moves into your range on enemy phase 2 and you taken down about 1/6 of the enemies present. Holding my ground in the middle of the map without a chokepoint really sucks. But this is where Eliwood's walling really helped. And Oswin would have been played but Guy needed the Exp more. I also loaded up Isadora with the Silver and Member Cards to have her buy some Physics. Ended up getting 3 of them for the low price of 1875G each. Both Serra and Prissy are going to get one and the last one is just in case. Got Heath recruited on Turn 2 and then had him, Isadora and Matthew hold their ground against a bunch of archers and peg knights. Rath and Rebecca ended up sniping tons of Wyverns on the right with Sain and Guy eventually helping out. And the rest is history with Eubans biting the dusk on Turn 11. Life
OK, I'm having problems with the desert chapter. I've always hated deserts and believed that they could just crawl into a hole and die. Does anyone have some tips on how to tackle it in 9 turns and still max Exp? I would love to field one of Lyn/Hector because I need 50+ levels to unlock Linus' FFO. Balcerzak
Anyway, you mind posting a tally of your Exp totals every chapter? Would really appreciate it. I would love to field one of Lyn/Hector because I need 50+ levels to unlock Linus' FFO. My Lords' levels. Ch 21 Ch 22 Ch 22x Eli 14.10 14.49 16.01 Hec 13.59 13.59 17.83 Lyn 16.75 16.75 18.88 Nobody got much in the desert chapter, but about 8 levels were gained by the three of them in Genesis. You seem to be couple levels lower than this. So maybe just try feeding Lyn the boss kills on this chapter if that's feasible? She looks like she has monster strength, and can probably borrow a Killing Edge if you can't get enough crit from Mani Katti and are having troubles. As for strategy, I'm sure you know you have to carefully lure the Guiding Ring monk so he doesn't suicide, and then luring the Boss on the next turn is probably for the best too if rescuing Pent looks too risky at that stage still. Anyway, as you can see from my stats dump that I gave up on a 9 turn here, I can't remember if that was for the XP or for the buried treasure, so I'm not sure I can give you really solid strategy advice for this one. Field all three fliers, Serra, a thief, Lyn, Ninian, and hope for the best?
Life
Chapter 22 - Living Legend Team: Eliwood, Serra, Lyn, Florina, Fiora, Legault, Ninian, Heath, Hawkeye (Turn 3) Notes: Holy fucking shit. I hate deserts with a passion. And deployment sucks in this chapter. Not to mention the abundance of Mages and Shamans while Heath has shit Res and Avo. Thank god that Ninian has ridiculous Avo. She's 2RKO'd by Wyverns that have a lot of move. But since they have to hit her with ~35 Hit (22.11% Real Hit), they can't touch her. Serra is very similar except that she's got about 15 less Avo. Not to mention that Serra + Physic + Ninian is wonderful for the Exp rank. I'm so glad that I bought 3 Physics in the last chapter. Lyn managed to get 3 levels which was awesome. She actually killed both Paul and Jasmine with a couple of Mani Katti crits which really helped. Eliwood also got a level, which helped a lot. Now I only need 5 levels in Genesis. The pegs avoided so much shit and really fought back hard. Heath gained a couple levels too but he didn't really help much during the enemy phase. He needs his HHM bonuses to actually do something in this chapter. Life
Chapter 22x - Genesis Team: Eliwood, Rebecca, Hector, Serra, Priscilla, Legault, Ninian, Hawkeye Notes: Note to self. Buy Chest Keys before I try this chapter in HHM. And a second Unlock. Eliwood and Hector were stars here. Both got enough levels to send me to Linus' version of FFO but Eliwood's Silver Sword really came in handy to do a lot of damage to the Druids and Sages here while Hawkeye did more chipping than killing. Hector was ORKOing Generals with his Wolf Beil at the same time. Honestly, I couldn't have done this chapter without Rebecca. You need an archer in case you want to clear away Kishuana if you don't have enough keys because they need to snipe him with the Longbow (Kishy doesn't move in Eliwood's mode). She also did quite a bit of killing with the Killer Bow that I picked up back in Dragon's Gate. Life
I'm just taking a slight break from FE in general right now. I just got a new job and I'm playing Tales of Vesperia and Borderlands because I can.
Life
After days and days of playing ToV and Borderlands, I'm back to FE. I finished my first playthrough on Borderlands (enemies are raping me on my second try and I can't afford an SDU for my Sniper Rifle) and I'm currently on 1/7 runthroughs of ToV (beat the game using every character when possible and get all of the achievements) which I might create a playthrough log of in the Other Games section. Anyways, about to attempt FFO for the first try. Here goes nothing.
