The Envoy of the Beginning
Most of my system is built, and no problems have been detected so far. I'm using an Radeon X300 SE 128MB from an older computer so I can access the BIOS and check it out. This is only temporary until I can get a Radeon HD 6850 1GB next week (along with Windows 7). Nightmare
Cool. You also reminded me how badly I'm in need of a new computer.

The Nomadic Trooper
Cool. You also reminded me how badly I'm in need of a new computer. Is your computer 9yrs old like mine? If not, be thankful My parents are hellbent that there's nothing wrong with it being 9yrs old as long as it works.
PuffPuff
A bit much? Indeed. I'll say that is quite a bit of electronics that really isn't needed, but nice speakerlike USB's. xDD
Integrity
I have an 8800gt still. You kids and your fancy new video cards.
The Envoy of the Beginning
A bit much? Let's see... ATX Full Tower Case: $100 650-watt Power Supply: $85 40GB Solid State Drive: $135 Motherboard: $105 CD/DVD Burner: $17 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 Memory: $91 Aftermarket CPU Cooler: $40 Quad-Core Processor: $200 Video Card (which I will get next week): $180+ Windows 7 Home Premium (1-pack for system builders)(Will also get next week): $100 All of that will total to $1,053 USD (assuming the price of my video card doesn't go up) That may seem like a bit much, but compared to high-end and enthusiast builds out there (which can cost from two to six times as much), it's not a lot. Guess what I'm getting for Jegus Day? Oh, side note P: I'm almost there, too! PX Edited November 17, 2010 by Obviam
Trueblade
Now I feel like getting a good desktop, even though I have a dual-core laptop with 4 gigs of RAM.

If your hard drive is only a 40GB, then that comp is still out of date as mine alone isn't all that great, but it's like a 320GB Hard drive. Unless that your not willing to spend over $300 for a new hard drive then go with what suits your preference.
Aleph
Dude it's a solid state drive. Fucking expensive as hell (more expensive == more $$ to get a bigger one). Insanely fast too because it's a god damn chip Edited November 18, 2010 by Obviam
The Envoy of the Beginning
Is there anything you do that actually requires any of that? lol Looks like someone doesn't know what I do. Hint: Try recording playthroughs of DS/PSX/PS2/PSP/Gamecube/Wii games that are emulated on your PC, or recording playthroughs of PC games. Or play PC games smoothly without gimping on settings, having choppy framerates, etc. Or edit videos without causing your system to overheat like crazy. Or multitask without slowdown. If not, be thankful My parents are hellbent that there's nothing wrong with it being 9yrs old as long as it works. Mine is seven or eight. It runs Myth TFL, Myth II, iTunes and Yojimbo. I would rather die than write on any other machine.
