whase
we're trying to copy all our old videotapes to dvd, since video recorders get old and we fear when it breaks we can't get it repaired any longer. but we found out some of the vids have some kind of protection. Is there any way to get around this protection or do we really have to buy all these movies again on dvd? please help, thanks :)
lolDeath
Elaborate on "protection" You should just download and burn
Narga_Rocks
How can there be protection? Can't you just make it play on a VCR and connect the output to a dvd recorder? I don't understand how it's possible for them to prevent that from working. A VCR doesn't know what it's connected to. Playing to a DVD recorder shouldn't be any different from playing to the TV. Sure, if you have a large movie library it'll take a very very long time, but oh well.
whase
How can there be protection? I dunno, it just says there is protection and then doesn't record when I try to. I don't know why either...
Esau of Isaac
Are you sure you're trying to record with the right device? Can you explain exactly what you're doing?
whase
well, I just play the video and record with the dvd recorder. the thing is, I know I'm doing this right. since I actually did get 'men in black' and 'MIB2' on dvd now. it's just movies like harry potter and titanic that just don't seem to get recorded...
