FE8 100% Enemy Growth Playthrough.

I know, it's already been done, and the original topic can be found here.

I will be doing a FE8 100% Enemy growth play through. Just because I want a challenge. (And the older one, used Juna fruit, which isn't legit.) What I would like from you readers, is to suggest the layout, per post, how much information you want, and that crap. I'll be rng abusing a lot little bit, because I'm not using Juna fruit, so there will be no way I'll have max stats without abuse. I'll also be taking Ephraim's mode (oh crap that stuff is gunna be hard.) Since old topic took Eirika's.

My units of interest will be Eirika, Seth, Franz, Gilliam, Vanessa, Moulder, Colm, Ephraim, and Knoll!Summoner, and Myrrh. Since I'll only be able to have a maximum of 40 levels each unit, I'll obviously need to take more units for I don't waste exp. I'm thinking maybe Kyle or Forde, for units, since they can have supports with Ephraim. Suggest away. I won't use Trainees though.. Other units will be sacrificed to the Demon King, or used as bait (LolSeth probably will)

My planned promotion routes will be:

Great Knight!Franz

Great Knight!Gilliam

Great Knight!Forde

Wyvern Knight!Vanessa

No difference from the old topic, lol.

Also what other changes should I make? I should change the Demon King's stats to lolhard.

Even with a full team Seth is the most likely to be the only one reaching level 20 promoted due to the number of chapters unless you tower or increase the amount of enemies.

Which route do you plan on taking?

and 's long as Seth, Eirika, and Ephraim are more than 2HKO'd by DK and doesn't get doubled, DK won't be too bad.

If you read the old topic, Characters were well at 50/20 (50 because of Juna fruit.) The old topic didn't favor Seth (lolwut) and he was at level 3 when he stopped recording him. I don't recall tower abusing or arena.

I'll make a Savestate at chapter split, try Ephraim, and when I realize I'm three kinds of stupid, I'll go back and do Eirika's instead. We'll have people with like 15 stats across the scoreboard and everyone there won't even be promoted yet.

Eirika's route has a Sniper with about 25 stats across the scoreboard, and Ephraim's has 10 range Sleep staffs, iirc.

Duessel's cavaliers will have the growth gain as well, but they won't have the extra 3-4 levels in hardmode.

What should I change the growths of Demon King to?

Most bosses, I think I'll change them to about 100% growths (growths don't really matter on bosses, too much..)

So, since I made the old topic, perhaps I should say some stuff?

This is going to be a real challenge. Especially if you try and train that many people - EXP is so scarce in FE8, you can barely get a team of 8 to 20/10. If you're RNG abusing, then you're going to want people who start strong (e.g. Seth) and who have decent caps, since you're gonna want to get near them (e.g. Great Knights, Generals, Warriors). Also, supports are very important - the last few chapters wern't that bad in my run despite fighting enemies with basically max stats, simply because supports gave me a huge edge (also I had units with good caps).

The reason I didn't use Seth I'm surprised isn't obvious from the way the Juna Fruit works: I kept my unpromoted units below level 10. That way they're gaining huge exp every fight, so level every 3 kills or so. Seth doesn't even get to benefit from the fruit until he reaches --/10 - at which point, even if he were trained liberally, everyone else would have vaguely equal stats to him - but since they're 20 levels lower, they're levelling up about 4 times faster. Seth simply falls behind, and so after his earlygame utility was spent he wasn't efficient, or easy, to use.

Finally:

Are they really that different? Both are just ways of making your units stronger: One has limits as set within the game on how it works but needs to be edited into the game first, the other requires tedious effort with resetting and abusing for largely the same outcome.

I think you should aim to list all main character stats, strategy, thoughts on the chapter and interesting occurences in your log. Let us know how things work and what's going on.

I agree that the Juna Fruit isn't legit, but RNG abusing isn't impressive at all (unless, of course, you're Rolanmen and TASing).

Your Juna fruit strategy was kind of cool, actually, did you use Codes in VBA or Nightmare module to do it?

I'm actually quite a noob, and in your playthrough I saw you used like 6 characters. I'm adding Neimi (you get a free Orion bolt luls.) and with Sniper!Neimi, you can use Ballistae(not alot really), and Longbow, which will definately come in handy later. Other then that, with Colm as my main theif, an automatic support comes in handy with Neimi. Which from chapter start in a few of the chapters where Colm is in, Neimi can quickly get a supported Crit, with Long/killer bow. and Forde, because he gets some pretty good supports in, like Vanessa, Franz and Ephraim.

Anyway Chapter 2:

Kindof hard. Witnessed the first time Seth couldn't double. It was quite sad, really. RNG'd for Franz and Gilliam. Killed off Garcia and Ross, because loltheysuck. And they wouldn't be able to help me much anyway.

From the start I had Vanessa rescue Ross like any playthrough, but after I recruited him and such, I stole his Hatchet and let him die run free. Gilliam was probably MVP, and I had to RNG a bit so he didn't get doubled and get killed. Franz helped a lot with his Iron sword. Sold my Red Gem and bought an Iron Sword for Eirika.

Eirika and Franz is a little above average, so far, Gilliam is the norm. Gunna have to RNG like a boss. =/

Chapter 3:

I got Neimi and Colm today. Forcefed Neimi a couple of perfect levelups (needed it so badly.) Took a freaking hour almost, to get the dumb rngs to accept the nice levels.

Everything basic really. Almost like normal, except it felt weird without babying Ross and using Garcia. Oh well. Eirika killed the boss. Colm was too slow to steal Antitoxin, so he was just able to take the Pure water.

I might have to promote Colm into Rogue at level 10, for he can get some Speed and be able to pick without my Lockpicks being used. That is if I use him at all... I probably should of gave his exp to Vanessa. Only time will tell. =/

Neimi was blessed abused, each level up I got without RNG.

It was like Vanessa to receive a good level up, but completely didn't get HP. (My GBA Vanessa was abused at 17 STR before Promotion, and she only got to 22 STR after. Pretty lovely rng, amiright?)

It still wasn't challenging too much. I just hope this next chapter I just hope Artur doesn't steal too much exp before killing him. I'll probably visit Lute's village for her Fire tome and then kill her. (Sorry you fans, she's not worth it. =/ )

I'm going to hate myself for going to Grado instead of Carcino. Oh well. I just hope Eirika doesn't get junk levelups after visiting Grado.

Yeah, the Juna fruit was edited with Nightmare to have unlimited uses, then stuck into Gilliam's inventory (for lolz). You're probably having an easier early time than I am since you're RNG abusing (Juna Fruit didn't do anything until about chapter 5 IIRC), although you're going to need that later. I think your midgame is going to be hellish (mine was fairly simple from about chapter 10-13, since I had near-cap units, enemies weren't getting any stronger but mine were, and I eventually moved towards promoting some people - you're going to find things get harder and harder as enemies hit their cap, then you struggle to catch up. Hope that most of your units are at 15+ in every stat by Phantom Ship (ch 11 Ephraim), otherwise you'll be getting destroyed.)

Also, I don't think Neimi is worth using just because she has a free promotion item. For a start, you have to get it...

Chapter 4:

So easy. Really. Neimi killed boss. Artur and Lute were killed. Perfect level-up only happened to Gilliam. No supports were established. Pretty fast chapter, really. A bit of RNG, and it didn't take way too long (Had to do like 25-30 on one level, and the rest were about on number 18 in rng..

Colm wasn't even used. Chapter was easy, when reinforcements came in on top left, Neimi and Gilliam got them, pretty fast too. Vanessa was doing 3 damage per hit (6 per round) which saddened me. Eirika almost got herself killed a couple of times, so I sacrificed Artur. Franz was a roadblock on the mid-left on those reinforcements, and Seth backed him. Vanessa went toward the village like always, and it was all good in that neighborhood. Stole Lute's Fire and Vulnerary and killed Lute off.

I don't think the 15+ in stats would be much of a problem by then. Probably will rush Franz in that chapter. Torch it and bring Colm out too =/

I decided not to RNG Colm (well just for Speed). And Blackbeard the Knight, raping with his all stat level ups. Neimi isn't increasing much in STR, at the time, but I'll RNG that the rest of the way.

What I did was leave the left until last, I got three villages, while the Torch village was torched. I figured that I get Torch Staffs in this town, I guess I won't need Torch. Anyway, it took such a long time =/ Trying to RNG as well as trying to beat this chapter, gaaah.

So I went to the Right, and Gilliam with Moulder support from the rear, took out the Soldier, and Franz and Seth went all the way to the right to take out the bandits. After that turn, Franz came back and helped Gilliam from being axed, and the bowman eventually starts trying to visit me, so I surround the bowman with melee attackers and Vanessa is left unguarded for stupid Axeman to come in and ruin the day. After the archer dies and stuff happens. Gilliam gets a crit on the archer. We're holding the Axeman off with Vanessa and Eirika, so Vanessa gets hit and has 5 hp, and moves while 2 hp Seth comes over and Vulenaries himself. Axeman attacks Seth, Axeman dies. After this happens the right fort finally clears the way and Joshua comes down and attacks Gilliam. Joshua doesnt crit and Gilliam hits Joshua. Natasha comes and recruits him, and Moulder steals his staff back (Switched Heal and Mend, for the luls) and Joshua gives Franz his Killing Edge. Northern bandits eventually comes down and rapes Joshua and later Natasha. Heads north and Seth grabs the Secret book. So we get to this stronghold at the top of the map, and Franz and Gilliam holds them off while Neimi arches from the behind. Bandits were taking like 4-5RKO while Gilliam would be doubled for 2RKO, Gilliam took a level earlier, so he wasn't doubled by Axeman, but by Bandits he was. Gilliam beats the mercenary and levels a perfect level, and we go fight Saar. Saar gets hit by Gilliam's iron lance first, then doubled by Neimi, then doubled by Franz. Ended my turn, and he attacks Franz for his death. Then Franz levels a 4 stat level up and I say meh its cool, you got res, then I come on here to write until my battery on my Laptop dies.

tl;dr version: I won the map.

Dude that sucked very badly; and I hope Ephraim's route isn't as lame as that was.

With the fruit, I could have 20 Speed Gilliam at level 20, and that's just not possible at all!

Actually it's more of a challenge without the Fruit, I don't get 30 luck and 40+ HP before promotion, so it's just a little more challenge.

5x is pretty hard, and I'm just nearing the end, with some good level ups.

Chapter 5x:

Hard level is hard. I just finished it. Forde and Ephraim soloed the whole chapter and Orson backed them when needed, while Kyle was a roadblock (storage for Orson's stuff also.)

I had to do sub-perfect or perfect levelups to make Forde and Ephraim any good at all this chapter. I ended up killing everyone while IET avoided a Shaman. Actually I used Orson to kill the Shaman =/ (taking to long to RNG a miss.)

I abused Reginleaf's criticals, just for the luls for I didn't have to use Orson to kill the people. Support with Ephraim finally gave Forde the ability to critical. Killer Lance was used quite a fair bit, and is almost broken. Forde ranked up in Lances (I should of went for Sword, but meh.) He'll probably get to S in Lances. I haven't decided on what weapon ranks everyone should cap. Gilliam will probably be Axes, while Franz will be sword. Forde might cap in axes.. I hope Moulder doesn't cap staff...

Strategy was wait until enemy enforcements stopped moving. I even kept a bit of the Elixers for my other characters, and I tried really hard to not lose my exp.

Needed perfect levelups like a naab.

Chapter 6: The fog hell.

Seth went north (like IET) and Gilliam backed him up when he finally got up there. I just stood my ground until everyone that moved was dead. Slowly inched my way to the boss. On turn 7, Vanessa was heading over to Bael, (the first time Vanessa didn't have Vulnerary and died until I found a savestate that I could give it to her.) I had to abuse Rapier's crit on Reinforcement!Cavaliers, for I can OHKO them, for they didn't kill Moulder. Iron Lance + Iron Bow + Javelin Cavaliers keep killing Moulder. =/ When one would miss, the other two would kill him. Took me FOREVER to find a good rng to safely evade 2 of the 70% hits. Gilliam's support helped him a little. Speaking of Gilliam, his rng proess is owning. I eventually killed the boss with Gilliam, and the pro gets a crit, as well as a perfect levelup. Legendary beard is legendary. Crit was actually accidental, but it was ok, since I was searching for a good rng. The perfect levelup was just really good luck. For these good levelups, it took about 60-70 rngs, most of the time. =/ Nothing that fastfoward can't handle.

I guess I stopped working on my supports for a while. I have a secret book and dracoshield and I'm not sure on who I should use it on. Also the next chapter I get Knight's Crest. Also, I did get the Orion's bolt. Neimi is looking good, but I guess I'll wait until level 18-20 to promote her.

Vanessa and Eirika are falling behind your precedent, mostly because of your level lead.

I'm not sure if I should turn Neimi into a Ranger or Sniper. I wanted Sniper because of Ballistae, but the only other chapter other than 7 that I know of Ballistae, is on Eirika's route, chapter 10.

Chapter 7:

Easy as ever. Really reminded me of first two chapters. The hardest part in this chapter was gaining sub-perfect levels. First time Gilliam didn't get a perfect level (really he capped STR and Def, only reason it wasn't perfect.) And Gilliam actually doubled an Archer and Fighter for the first time. Really considering promoting Gilliam already. Neimi is getting close to promotion also. Eirika is falling behind. =/ I used Seth as Ballistae bait, until all 5 hits ran out, and loldumb Archers got out of their Ballistae to attack my units. Raised Neimi abit on the boss before finally killing him. Castle healing ftw? Raised up a couple supports in this chapter also. Gilliam is the king of perfect levelups and he hasn't missed one yet. (Probably will change after he becomes a Great Knight, lol.

Since Cormag is usable on this route, I might even use him. After a perfect levelup or two, he'll probably Promote to Wyvern Knight. I'm super glad that in this game, there aren't so many promoted units. I probably should of raised Vanessa some more than what I did, but as soon as she gets ORKO'd its to Wyvern Knight she goes. Pierce abuse ftw?

Chapter 8: Takin' care of business in Renvall.

Chapter wasn't so hard. Gilliam was promoted into General, because his proness couldn't handle being a Knight any longer. Speaking of Knights, in this chapter, 2 of them had Defense capped. I let Franz run and meet his new teammates, with Seth following him for a support. Neimi and Gilliam got to A Support. While I RNG'd Vanessa a bit. Gilliam tanked against the Knights, and Gilliam finally didn't get a perfect levelup (he got subperfect, which is he didn't get luck.) I guess I inched my way through there using support bonuses. I level abused on the boss (I'm a lamer, I just wasn't sure if I could get past the Ghost ship.) And Eirika got to level 15, for her 6 levelups when she goes her own way. (she capped skill.) Most of my units are closing on promotion time.

Really, after promoting Gilliam, it wasn't so challenging. It's really easy RNG abusing. Took along time for this chapter, just because I wanted sub-perfect or perfect level ups.

Chapter 9: Killing your lardiness.

Strategy this chapter, wasn't that hard, Sleep stave was really a little bit bothersome, but it just prevented Forde and Franz from getting more exp. So Vanessa got some exp instead, and I think Ephraim did too. Ephraim Reginleafed the Cavaliers for wintime. I made my way around and Vanessa started on killing the Horseslayer, but then Forde just came in with Heavy Spear and killed him for me. After I recruited Ameila Speedwing, I took her stuff and I sent her on a rampage with her bare fists to her death. RNG abusing is alot easier then Juna fruit, because these chapters just feel like regular SS. I bet it'll change endgame, when they max their stats. Gilliam didn't get res for the first time in his life. And every unpromoted unit is owning Seth in stats. Colm opened the locks while Vanessa and Forde stood at a stronghold from reinforcement Cavaliers in the north, while Ephraim took care of the southern ones. Got an Ocean Seal, I won't ever use, and once I get Rennac, Colm will only be around for his supports. (Moulder and Neimi.)

Chapter 10: THE DEUCE MUST LIVE!

I sent Franz and Forde as far as they could go, and Ephraim, Seth, Gilliam, and Vanessa backed them because of supports. After the archer died, Vanessa came in and got some kills and exp. I tried my best to kill them all before turn 3.

Turn 3 Cormag starts paying attention, so I try rocketing South. Cormag got really close, so I'm like great, and I couldn't recruit Duessel yet, since Ephraim wasn't close enough. So I end my turn and Vanessa rescued and ally Cavalier because they were sitting on the village. Seth got the Hero crest, and Ephraim recruited Duessel, Duessel recruits Cormag, but now I had a dilemma. If I left Cormag there, he'd die, and I'd lose a free killer lance, and Wyvern Knight that I would consider using. If I'd move him, he'd die, and if I moved someone to protect him, Moulder would be exposed. So I rescue Franz with Cormag (Franz was in a spot next to the wall, so he could only be attacked on way) and move him close to Forde. Forde takes Franz, puts him in his spot while Forde goes into a spot to wall. My Wall was basically Gilliam + Neimi, the supports alone raped everyone, while both of them were taking 0 Damage. My interchangeable wall was Forde and Franz. And my Southern wall was Forde and Franz, so all the units were everywhere. I didn't kill the boss, or get the Secret Book (stupid Cormag missed with Killer Lance, and I didn't have a good savestate nearby.)

There wasn't alot of levelups to RNG. but where there was, it was ok RNG.

Chapter 11: Foghell VS2 The Ghost Ship.

Franz and Gilliam were sent up to the two boards, and sat there, once Franz got to level 20, I promoted him, and he worked on his Swords rank. Tana and Cormag died, oh well, it was about time they did too. DusselNewJeigan actually lived. Kool beans. My strategy was keep my boat while Vanessa flew around. I felt as if I actually got a low turn count o.0. Ephraim held the southern board while Neimi killed any stray Gargoyles. It was a rather boring chapter. L'arachel died, but I got to keep Dozla when the chapter ended. My stats were high enough that I really didn't need a strategy, yet. Two Entombed were maxed (except for luck.) I lol'd and Forde and Vanessa got to level 20 slaying one.

Chapter 12: Gangbang

A lame chapter. Forde and Gilliam went Left, everyone else went right. Neimi got into an archer's block (4 people all around her.) and Franz got into a block too. Vanessa gets hit by Shortbow, and everyone else comes close to death. Moulder the Boulder was used as a wall, and I'm not joking. He had nice avoid (Vanessa woot.) And everyone barely touched him while low utilities like Ephraim who I didn't want to come close to death, Seth, and Duessel which were pretty close to death (yes Duessel the old fart is still alive! I'll probably have him kamikaze later.) I recruited Ewan and stole his stuff, and let him recruit MarisaFree Shamshir and Elixer. Cyclops was killed by Bishop!Moulder, to help his light tome rank. A Staves and a half, is not good. Good thing I get Knoll sooner or later.
