I played their game as a kid (and sucked really badly at it, but I still enjoyed it, despite not making it past the 4th level). When I first played Melee and saw that they were playable characters, I chose them (after one match with Mario, since I always play as him in games) and sucked really badly with them. Eventually, I learned to use them better and became better at using them than Mario. I also learned some cheap tricks with them like the Grab and Smash (Popo grabs the opponent while Nana side smashes them, usually KOing them) and the Grab and Meteor Smash (Popo grabs the opponent while they're near the edge, and Nana Meteor Smashes them off the edge of the level). Despite the former technique being much less effective in Brawl, the latter technique was really improved and that's the technique that scores more consistant KOs better anyways. I especially like pulling out Ice Climbers on people who think they suck and showing them how good they are, the hard way.
