Raven Posted July 3, 2011 Share Posted July 3, 2011 Inspired by General_Horace and his FE7 Low Level Challenge, I decided to start my own while I was away from teh interwebs. I'm playing on cartridge, so I can't record, printscreen, etc. It began as a normal Hard Mode run, no intention of turning into a LLC, but it got to Ch.6 where I had to choose my deployed team for the first time, so I thought "fuck it, let's do this shit". And so I did. I can't remember who I deployed for Ch.6, but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I restarted a lot just to get the right outcomes (which is, to not get anyone killed). Due to the nature of this challenge, the priorities are as follows: 1. Survival 2. Turn count Rules: 1. Deploy the lowest levelled units of the lowest class tier. 2. Merlinus is an exception and doesn't have to be deployed, since he doesn't need to be deployed to store items, and would essentially use up a valuable unit slot. 3. Promote the first units to reach Lv20 (level 20), assuming they can be promoted. 4. If a unit has reached Lv20 and can not be promoted for whatever reason, that unit can remain unused the remainder of the game. 5. Any and all reinforcements that appear during a chapter may be used freely, regardless of level or class tier. 6. Forced units can be used freely. 7. If a unit must be deployed in order to recruit another unit in that chapter, that unit can be used freely. 8. Nobody is to die. I think that's all. Anyway as I said, I was away from internet usage so couldn't update as I went along. But after over 50 restarts (I wish I was exaggerating) I finally managed to have everyone survive Ch.7, including all reinforcements. The deployed units I had to use in this chapter were: Roy, Wolt, Bors, Ellen, Wade, Lot, Thany, Chad, Clarine, Rutger, Saul, Dorothy and Sue. Reinforcements: Zealot, Treck and Noah. To even survive this chapter, I had to recruit Zealot and Treck as quickly as possible and send them down as soon as possible to avoid triggering those bastard Dragon Riders. Using rescue, pass and drop with Sue and Clarine, I got Roy in in range to talk to Zealot by turn 2. Zealot recruited Noah on turn 3. I then had to create an unstable wall of defense against the oncoming onslaught of enemies, consisting of nearly all my units either attacking or redirecting enemy fire (Healers lol). About 5 or 6 turns went by, every moving enemy unit was dead, and so I sent all units east into the village area to prepare for the 3 waves of 4 Cavalier reinforcements from the south. They were dispatched with. I then carefully picked off the remaining units, including the Dragon Riders, did shopping, visited all the villages, got the chests and went on to kill the boss with Roy. My latest attempt had my units cowering in the room with 4 chests, but Dieck got killed because he killed too many units on an enemy phase and got killed himself. Any tips? I'm considering charging for the throne to avoid contact with the Mercs, Archers and Soldiers that come behind, instead facing just the Archers and Soldiers that come from the front. I could, but that would mean the archer needs to move before the other units, when the mercenary moves first, then the soldier, I think. Surprised how hard I failed last time in comparison. I survived mainly by placing my defensive walls in each gap (Barth and Bors), and the two enemy Mercs that had Armorslayers equipped were picked off by long-ranged units over the wall before they had the chance to attack the Armoured units. Raised both Wendy (with the Triangle Attack) and Lilina where I could. The boss had some crazy avoid thanks to the throne, so it took a lot of tries to get him down to 9HP, using mainly Light Brand Roy and Armorslayer Dieck, while Barth finished it by doing certain 3x3 damage, thanks to the TA. Also got every chest. Took out the units on the left first, then proceeded towards the boss carefully. Roy performed well against the boss, even pulling off a critical thanks to his Rapier and B support with Lilina. Lilina also got a couple of hits in and also got the final hit on the boss, leaving the throne free for Roy to take. Not as hard as I originally thought it would be. Even managed to get Chad up a few levels. Even the boss went down in about 3 turns using just Lugh and Lilina, who were getting rescued and dropped after attacking. Recruited two great units Fir and Shin who helped out greatly in this chapter. I visited the bottom left village, and the left village on the top-right of the map, obtaining the Silver Sword and the Killer Bow, respectively. Roy continues to impress, although Fir did much of the work against the Pirates. Wendy wasn't of much use because of the high volume of axes. I didn't keep a record of each unit's level after each chapter, but I stuck to my rules. In Chapter 10, I had to deploy Lilina to get Gonzales. Also got Geese. Pretty straightforward. I just waited for the enemy reinforcements to stop coming before I advanced onto the Berserker and his group of fighters and mercs. Chapter 11, this took a couple of tries. I had to deploy Clarine to recruit Klein, who in turn would recruit Tate. They were recruited successfully, as was Echidna. The only village to be lost was the one closest to the boss. Chapter 12 was pretty hard. Most of it depended on how the first few turns played out. Without Wars of Dragons to help out, I forgot about the enemy reinforcement Hero and Mercs that come from behind the group with Roy. They almost caught up with Wendy, but I used Thany to go down and rescue her. The enemy reinforcements didn't get far because Roy had killed the Mamkute boss with the Wyrmslayer (ORKO'd with 2 x 20 DMG). All the chests were taken, but to stay within the 20 turn limit for Ch.12x, I couldn't recruit Cath. Recruited Ray. And Roy hit Lv20 as well. I am currently on the prep screen for Chapter 12x. Again. Oh well. Units to be deployed for Chapter 12x: Roy, Lalum, Gonzales, Tate, Thany, Wendy, Lott, Chad (why would I not take him on such a chapter?). I played through once earlier today. Got to the boss. Attacked with Roy who was the only capable unit of taking the boss down. He could 4RKO him with the Silver Sword. The boss, who is a Berserker, had 24 hit, 25 dmg, and 16 crt displayed. Roy misses the offensive blow at 51% hit, when suddenly the Berserker fuck flips his axe in the air, catches it and drills it through Roy's face. If someone could calculate the chances of that happening (using real hit), please do tell. I'll retry later, after I find a fuck to give.
