Reliability (which is one thing Lifetaker lacks), not to mention the whole thing about if you're heavily damaged, attacking might be foolish. Lifetaker is still better in my opinion also about the bold part, Renewal doesn't save you in that case either...that's why you should always carry an Elixir with you....
