From what I see the anime skips everything that isn't the trials, and shortens the investigations a lot. In the game you get free time like SDR2 where you can hang out with whoever you want, get skills, learn about them, and the trials/investigations are more interactive I guess? The last 3 cases of DR1 are pretty damn good compared to the earlier ones. By the way I see everyone lurking for the page 3000 post.
