Gaggle of Geese
Hello, all. I noticed some unusual goings-on in the series. In FE4, Azel's attack speed at base is 0 due to his 12-weight Fire tome. Most enemy bandits also have 0 attack speed because of their 18-weight axes. However, Azel still double-attacks them, which would seem to indicate that the game is treating Azel's attack speed as higher. I can only think this is due to it registering negative attack speeds for the Pursuit calculation. In FE3, however, two characters with 0 attack speed will each get only one attack. The info screens will also list "AS" as 0. The same thing happens in Thracia 776. My question is, is it possible in any of the FE games to have negative attack speed? If so, does this value apply to the calculation for a character's Avoid stat? If not, how does the Pursuit calculation work for two characters with 0 AS? Scarlet
Yes, it's possible in FE4 to have negative AS, and this will indeed negatively affect that character's Avd stat. Another reason why axes are terrible in that game.

Gaggle of Geese
TRS You'll have to explain that abbreviation.

Othin
The negative AS is where those negative Avo stats come from, for the most part. Berwick Saga also has the potential for negative AS. Berwick has a partial AS reduction like FE5-8 rather than a full reduction like in FE1-4 and TRS, so negative AS isn't as common, but it's there. If you're using a decent shield, you're going to have terrible AS, probably in the negatives, but it's usually worth it for characters not dependent on Spd. Worth noting that you can't have a negative Avo in Berwick, though. Edited September 12, 2012 by Othin
Icon of Sin
Worth noting that you can't have a negative Avo in Berwick, though. Same for TRS, though shields have no weight. They instead have awful durability in most cases. Only elemental shields can tank more than four hits, but they're rare and seldom useful. At least the early Thunder Shield can be of use against the Arch Opi you face on Holmes' route.
Gaggle of Geese
Thanks for everyone's help! So if I understand this right, aside from TRS and Berwick Saga, FE4 is the only FE game that allows for negative attack speed. All the others just make it equal to zero.
