Mikado
Hello everyone. So I have plans for a hack and I want to have a My Unit feature. Some of the questions I want to know is "how", and how do make My Unit have different support pointers (e.g. MU1 can support with Hector and Oswin, but not Lyn and Florina. MU2 can support with Lyn and Florina, but not Hector and Oswin.) Other My Unit suggestions will be helpful. :)
cyron
i know jubby is doing a similiar hack and is paying cam to do some asm for the mu creation sequence, not sure if hes having cams making them have variable support pointers
shadowofchaos
This is simply not a viable concept for the average FE ROM hacker. It HAS to be ASM to have variety of options... and if you're thinking about making the possible results as full character slots: N faces * M hair * 2 genders = WTF number management, and that's not even taking body builds and hair color. Not even looking at the amount of graphical work you need to do... there's only so many character slots in the game. Mikado
Well... what I really want is to do is have the choice between a couple different units (e.g. Pick only Unit A, B, C, D or E to go on your quest) instead of the the customization thing like My Unit has. Sorry that I used the word "My Unit" but that's what it's going to be called... for now.

The most basic way to select it is like how Arch did the Elibian Nights Tale Select Screen. Unless you have ASM experience, you won't be able to use any player input questions other than "Yes" or "No".
cyron
well you could just do multiple patches one for each option since you said you siad you wanted a choice of a b or c not a customization thing
Jubby
I'm also not paying Cam, he is a wonderful person and offered to do it for free ;3 Although I would pay him if he wanted me to. :P And most of my MU stuff was conceptualized first, and then cam basically offered to streamline it with ASM for me. For the stuff you want to do, you can probably implement it with an events based structure but you should figure it out yourself, because that's the fun of it ;P To get you started, try using different character slots for that. CT075
dammit jubs stop ruining my business ANYWAY you don't actually need ASM if you don't mind something EN-style with 'talk to this unit to select this' etc
