Where did "Thwomp" come from?

Presumably from the Mario series of games, which (a) are popular and (b) have Thwomp enemies.

I'm not exactly sure where it gets associated as a noun though. I've typically seen it reverse-nominalized, i.e. "X thwomped the shit out of Y." (Nominalization is the process of turning a verb into a noun, so the reverse effect, noun to verb, is at play.)

I believe it's actually a result of Horace. He used a picture of a Thwomp on a surfboard for Ardan promoting proclaiming "I have evolved". From then on, it's been used for armour knights.

I wish this was an actual game mechanic. Hell this might increase the actual usefulness of our beloved tin cans since FE is usually more about moving from point A to point B rather than defend (not like those type of chapters have any antiarmor shenanigans on the enemy side).
