if i could pass the class whilst getting a zero on the test i'd go.

but then again i have no idea who this particular artist is so not in this particular instance.

but yeah i'd go if it was the sword, black sabbath, fun. or someone i liked.

It's not an actual artist, it's a hologram. That's why it's ridiculous

a few things:

1. holograms are badass

2. i'd be missing what i would assume to be high school (she's not in uni, right), which is totally fine

3. despite the above, she shouldn't be crying about wanting to see a hologram, i agree.

i'm not sure wether i can agree with this or not, but the people on the concert definetly not see her as mere hologram as far as i knew...

since holograms actually are 2D beings that came to the 3D/Real life world, what can you say??

I can honestly say being worried about long-term goals is better than having entertainment for just one night. That being said, there will be other Hatsune Miku concerts that your sister can go to in the future. I mean, for fuck's sake, it's Hatsune Miku. As popular as she is, there's bound to be more concerts in the near future.

I'm still confused on the concept of how people can idolize a holographic singer, though. I respect Miku's appeal, but logically thinking...I dunno, man. Seems strange.

I'm more confused on how so many people can like Justin Bieber. I only hear bad things about him but I never heard any of his songs until I came across one of my favorite Youtube Video.

I don't idolize vocaloids but I wouldn't mind going to a Miku concert one day. There's a shit ton of worse things like dubstep, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and Justin Bieber to name a few.

The Justin Bieber thing has gone way out of control. The target audience for his stuff was pretty clearly defined (little girls) but now it's deteriorated to the point where every other comment on a video of something like Black Sabbath will revolve around the kid. All it probably means that the younger fans of semi-popular music are just Bieber listeners in denial and hipsters in formation.

My 15 year old sister is crying (yes, really crying) because she won't be able to go to hatsuni miku's show that will happen here in a few days. Like, really crying and raging. I should just record this and put on youtube hahaha.

IT'S NOT EVEN A REAL SINGER, IT'S JUST AN HOLOGRAM FOR GOD'S SAKE

so the point of this topic is to laugh at your sister for wanting to go to a miku concert...

Nodoame is a cough drop, although Japanese cough drops are pretty tasty, I recall. A friend accidentally bought some thinking they were candy at first. Hitori means "one person." I guess I should've phrased that first post as "one person rather than a cough drop" for ultimate moonspeak-whatevers, but oh well.

I guess it can. It depends on how you write it. 一人 (literally "one" and "person") and 独り (as far as I can tell, here it's all just for pronunciation; someone more proficient in moon may know better) are pronounced the same but mean different things.

Edit: Actually they may not be pronounced the same. I've never used hitori as alone in a spoken conversation with a Japanese person, but hitori meaning one person is pronounced more like sh'tori than ひ-と-り。

...I thought Hitori meant alone o Ao

Homonym. Japanese has like twenty billion of them. I remember going over 十分. It means both "ten minutes" as most people learning Japanese would think, and also "sufficient," as most people who like to make most people who are learning Japanese angry would know.

I'm not a completely reliable source because I don't read Japanese sources a whole lot, but 独り looks really unused. I'm pretty sure when you're saying ひとりで you leave it in kana.

Hm, my textbook used that, but it may have just been a "here learn more kanji!" kind of thing. I wouldn't exactly call myself a reliable source on the subject either, though.

Lol, same here. I learned my Japanese purely from music, manga and anime. Because I'm lazy like that.

I learned it from an educational source, but it's rigid as fuck and also manages to fuck up basic honorifics in some places. Example would be something like きのうどこかへいらっしゃいましたか。

Although I've heard that へ can be used as a particle for more general directions, as far as I've specifically learned when used in place of に it's supposed to be a casual use so it should be きのうどこかへ行った? or some such.

Edit: Also,

This is the closest I have ever had to an appropriate context to post this photo and I got impatient

This picture is reminiscent of that one from Memento when he found his killer.
