Team help for Heart Gold

In order to pass the time between now and the release of X/Y, I recently restarted Heart Gold. So far all I have for my team is my bayleaf. I originally planning on doing a nuzlocke, but I decided last minute not to. So, basically, I am horrible at deciding things and need you people's help horribly.

Cool site! I'll remember it for the future, but I do like to select pokemon on my own as well.

Let me know if you still need help with picking though. And its funny you're doing Heart Gold - its opposite to my Soul Silver! XD

If I were to recommend one pokemon, it'd be Growlithe since its a cool fire type that only appears in Heart Gold, so take advantage of it.

Since you got Chikorita as your starter, a fun thing to do would be to use all the password Pokemon Primo give out (Slugma, Wooper, Marill) since none of the types are redundant with Chikorita's.

Using Gift Pokemon (Eevee, Tyrogue, Togepi) is also a fun thing to do, since they're all Pokemon that are really rare and you can't find in the wild.
