I can second that Full Metal Panic suggestion, I actually just started watching it yesterday and its really quite good. Haven't really gotten to any of the more serious bits yet, but the humor is quite well done early on, so who am I to complain? Also the femme lead is kind of amazing.

I don't have Netflix, so I'm not sure which anime series they have, but I would like to recommend Mushishi.

I personally think it's a really good anime.

If Netflix doesn't have it and you would like to give it a try, you can buy it on Amazon for 20 bucks, stream it on Funimation, stream it on any anime site, download it, etc.

I saw like, the first episode of Mushishi, it seemed good at the time.
