Ein
Just beat the game for the second time today. Thinking of doing a required trainers only run. Like, only battling trainers I cannot avoid. Looking for some input such as whether I should catch Pokes that aren't just HM users due to limited exp as well as caught Pokemon giving exp and whether I should use the Exp. Share. In my experience just playing the game casually without grinding ever and battling most trainers I come across my starter ends up being low to mid 70s. Wondering how this playthrough would change that.
DodgeDusk
Sounds somewhat challenging. Making this a nuzlocke and using exp share seems like a nice mix too. Wouldn't want to gimp you severely now... Either way I'll follow this and hopefully something happens!
Karasz
I don't recommend doing a Nuzlocke. Two guys I know decided to do a Nuzlocke for their first run of Pokemon X...one guy's entire team died at the 4th gym, and the other guy beat the game, but lost EVERYONE, excluding a Chatot that he managed to raise to Level 100 after the E4. So yeah, don't do Nuzlocke. That's my only recommendation. EDIT: Someone gave me the best challenge recommendation. I call it "Wonderlocke." Here are the rules: 1. The Kalos Starter MUST be used. 2. You must have a full team of wonder-traded Pokemon before the first Gym. 3. Exp. Share cannot be used. 4. Other Pokemon can be caught, but they cannot be used until post-Elite Four. 5. Pokemon that can mega evolve cannot be used, and must be immediately wonder traded for something else. Let me know what you think of that. shadykid
screw required battles only, pull a dondon and do no experience gain (and change the battle settings to "set" so you don't get free switches after KOs)
Renne
only kalos pokemon (as in nothing from the previous generation even if you can catch them in Kalos) and no exp share.
shadykid
well since you can't actually do no EXP runs: 1. no EXP share 2. required battles only 3. only new Pokemon are allowed to be caught and used, and only once (run from everything else, so you can't cheese EXP)-this also effectively stops Megas 4. switch battle settings to set so you can't get a free switch after a kill 5. no O-Powers or any other PSS features Edited October 23, 2013 by shadykid
dondon151
if you're doing required battles only, you might as well jump on the speedrun train.
shadykid
if you're doing required battles only, you might as well jump on the speedrun train. but then Mega Lucario sweeps the game oh yeah obviously: 6. no Pokemon-Amie or Super Training Edited October 23, 2013 by shadykid
