Which? Dark Souls or Mass Effect?

It's from a combat perspective, if you take away the fact that warping is the main gimmick, you're left with a very Souls like presentation to combat; the way they fight, Stamina gauge(subtly disguised as MP), endless rolling, etc. The other bits are aesthetics

My favorite, and most obvious aesthetic being how Noctis uses a potion: Look at how a Lifegem is used in Souls, then look at how Noctis uses a potion. You couldn't make that any more obvious if you tried. Still cool though.

And wrt Mass Effect, I think SE straight up said they were catering to the FPS audience with FF13 or something like that, and Mass Effect was the cool kid at the time.

If FFXV doesn't do well enough to keep them afloat, SE is the next company out the door, but at this point, I think everyone knows that.

When DOOM 4 comes out, and that starts selling like hotcakes, SE is gonna delay FFXV to "tweak" combat, then in the next demo 7 months later, Noctis is gonna have an attack that's either throwing swords w/ammo in first person or over the shoulder.

I do think it's souls lite, but the potoin is an aesthetic that doesn't contribute to my line of thinking much besides being an obvious aesthetic that I liked

So it's like putting down $1 to pay for a $1 item, then adding a penny. Not necessary, but still there.

No, it's fair to say at this point that souls created a sub-genre with all the imitations at this point.

It reminds me of the Warriors series in that regard.
