I'd never say 'Entre mon frère et je' (not saying I never make mistakes, but I find it funny that French as a first language would make it hard for me to use 'I' in this context.) The same thing goes for Dutch (although the same mistake is made in Dutch, but a lot less). I imagine it sounds especially weird in French because 'je' has a schwa (I hope that's not an incomprehensible term for you), and therefore can't be the stressed word in a sentence.
