jamborgini
You know that feature noone in their right mind ever uses? The automatic move one? Well... what about a challenge run in which you can only move your MU or people paired up with your MU, and you have to auto everyone else? I'm calling this my "Quiet MU" run. I'm doing it on hard since normal doesn't start with access to auto, but that extra bit of difficulty shouldn't be much. Hard is probably the max for this though- I can't imagine this on lunatic. I'm on chapter 2 atm, and I've already shouted at chrom many times for being a stupid idiot. Mostly my fault for not changing the custom auto tactics, but I like to think it's chrom being an over-aggressive tool. But yeah. Any ideas or severe problems with the idea? And don't mention the chapter with ricken and maribelle. I'll do that when I come to it. And I'll cry a bit.
Tables
Feature no-one uses? This thing is amazing! It cuts down time used when grinding and in speedruns so much it's ridiculous. It's also useful for moving characters along on slow turns.
Dwarfishh
This is actually pretty cool. I may give it a go sometime...
jamborgini
Oh. Speed runs. Okay, that's something I didn't think of. Just I don't see it being useful on anything you might concievably lose people on. That's the point of this run- stuff you don't intend or want to happen. Stuff like shouting at Lissa for neglecting to heal people, or wanting to rip frederik's head off after he steals boss exp. Because being angry at fictonal characters makes it more fun. Airship Canon
Someone [integrity, I think?] did a PT using it nearly exclusively. Some notes: Auto never changes weapons unless they break. Auto never opens chests. Exclusive Auto Runs cannot clear Chapter 3 [since you have to manually open the doors] Auto never uses Pair Up. Auto is dumber than the Enemy AI. Gaia
I'm doing it on hard since normal doesn't start with access to auto, but that extra bit of difficulty shouldn't be much. Actually, it does. Simply go into options and turn slide guides from "off" to "on". Proof: Edited February 3, 2014 by Gaius217
SRC
This idea is so old that IT'S BEEN ALREADY DRAFTED. It's pretty hilarious and fun though, so I would still recommend doing it. Airship Canon
This is particularly true on Golden Gaffe once you have a full team set up. It's the best thing for farming Renown since clogging up the map so Wolt always spawns in the same spot. The most efficient way to Renown Grind is to Multi-task it with Support Grinding. Having done the math on getting a 100% file, it's 90250 Renown on Gen 1 supports thru Einherjar slaying [MU included. Yes, it's a TON of fights to get all the supports done]. Each Second Gen is about 3500 Renown each as well. Screw recruiting Wolt: 1 Javelin = 350g ea after Silver Card 1 Javelin ~= 25 kills when sufficiently powered. 1 Javelin ~= 2.5 teams each. 2 Javelins = 5 teams. Support Rank S = 8 Fights = 8 teams = 4 Javelins. Wolt = 1200g = 50 Renown 4 Javelins = 1400g = 400 Renown Or Support bashing, is 6.857142857...times more gold efficient than Wolting. And since it covers another objective at the same time, it's also time efficient as well, since the objectives are not carried out separately. But yes, for all your Golden Gaffe needs, use Auto. [support Grinding is probably best done with "end turn"]
Czar_Yoshi
Isn't it normal practice when grinding supports to do a pairing + parent and child supports, then save over a different file to update the support log? That would split up your Renown gain over a ton of files. Unless you're clearing files one at a time and just getting one pairing per character per file, which I'm not sure is faster than ~7 hours of Wolt/GG. The splits only knock the variable parent/child and sibling supports off the lists. The rest of it can be handled on one file [via classic/bookmarking or casual/battle saving to save the update.] You're still getting the 8 unlock fights in for each couple, and the determinate parent is outside the realm of the split. Those figures only accounted for supports you can do on one file, [resetting after viewing S]-- you'd hit your 90K figure before you'd split any files. The child numbers also are what accounts for only available at once. You'd get the vast majority of the support log done alongside the renown haul.
