Randoman
Shame on you people for not mentioning the best anime ever until 20 posts later. On a more serious note, it's been a long time since I've last watched any anime series. Though back in the day, I did fully watch Galaxy Angel and Bomberman Jetters and enjoyed them, so I guess I'll say those two are my favourite anime. umerol
Some of my recommendations of Series: Mononoke: A really atmospheric and mystery anime about Japanese monsters. Nichijou: A slice of life/school life anime. Also with over exagerated actions and reactions. Code Geass: A show about a student who "saves" the world with Mechas and eye powers. Angel Beats: CRI CRI CRI CRI CRI. A story about the dead in a limbo world. My Hero Academia: A shonen anime with heroes against villains. Everyone (Mostly everyone) has powers. Movies: Anohana: CRI CRI CRI CRI CRI AND MORE CRI. There is a anime Series on it but I liked the movie version. A story about 6 friends that are seperated because of an accident that killed one of them. Gurren Lagann: I prefer the movie version to the series (Still really amazing though). A show about 2 people who try to leave the underground because of a tyrant who forces humans to live underground. Howl's moving Castle: A movie about a woman who is turned old by a witch. I don't watch a lot of movies ;-;

DefaultBeep
I watch very little anime, but I also watch very few shows in general, so I guess it evens out. Anyway, I think I have enough to make a top 5: Ys II: Castle in the Heavens. I love Ys and especially Ys II, and the OVA adaption was surprisingly cool. Took some liberties with the story, but I appreciate that in an adaption. I still need to see the Ys I OVAs, though. Legend of the Legendary Heroes. Watched this on a whim because the name was amusing to me, and I ended up liking it quite a bit more than I expected. I did not watch it because of the Legend of Heroes series by Falcom, which I only started playing a year or so after watching this anime. Dragon Ball. Not Z, but the original. I started watching it recently, and I'm still not even finished with season 1, but I really like it so far. It's very cute and creative. It's only not second because I haven't finished it yet. Fruits Basket. Largely nostalgia for being the first anime/manga I ever experienced, and the manga is better, but it's cute and likable enough. Death Note. I stopped watching it just before the end, but I really enjoyed the back-and-forth of the first half or so.

I only got to about episode 25 and was told to stop and switch to Brotherhood. The original is sort of like a shortened version of Brotherhood that tries to highlight some of the main themes about the manga, but of course it skips a lot of details and has a different (somewhat disappointing) ending. It's still pretty good, and I remember when I first watched it I thought it was one of the best anime ever. Brotherhood follows the manga after it had actually finished, and I presume that's why most people tell new anime viewers or those trying to get into the series to watch Brotherhood instead of the original. Personally I liked the original more because story wise I thought it had the perfect balance throughout the entirety of the plot in terms of action, drama, and comedy. It skipped a lot of the details Brotherhood has, and so the story and whole scenario of the world of FMA was much different in the original than Brotherhood; it doesn't make the original any less than Brotherhood, but instead it just ends up feeling like two different worlds, but with the same characters and focus.
