Wist Posted September 18, 2008 Share Posted September 18, 2008 Video game tracks have an inherent nostalgic value attached to them (assuming one has played the game from which the music was derived). I do not like listening to music solely for the purpose of listening to music. As such, I tend only to listen to video game music and music in languages I am studying or interested in (if I choose to listen to anything). You gotta find the good mainstream music at times. Also, I believe that video game music is an artform that will earn it respect by the mainstream in a few short years. Grew up with mainstream music (Ska and rock) then got into gaming music. I usually enjoy mainstream rap music during a big party or something, but I usually listen to some Aerosmith, Megadeth, KISS and video game music at my private time. A lot of the mainstream stuff sucks these days, and I've listened to the older ones so much I'm tired of them. But VG music is always good! I still go back to some mainstream stuff sometimes, though.
