If I were to get a physical copy for my husband for him to play on my 3DS, would he still be able to access the DLC I bought on my digital copy? You can have as many physical copies of the game as you want and they'll all work just fine. Having both physical and digital also does nothing to mess up save data, so don't worry about that either (they're both completely separate). I can vouch for this as I did it when I upgraded from a normal 3DS to a XL and it transfered all the DLC as well and I was using a physical cart. And that's excellent to hear if I upgrade to a N3DS, although I have a soft spot for my first 3DS so I don't know if I'll do a system transfer or just keep that N3DS to streetpass myself with eventually.
