Jagged Jagen
I'm not making this up: http://www.siliconera.com/2015/05/20/fire-emblem-if-is-getting-a-limited-prepaid-card-for-7-eleven-in-japan/ Bizarre news, though interesting nonetheless. They're clearly attempting to promote the new Cipher game. Think we'll see slurpee cups? :) Edited May 21, 2015 by DeoGame

Jedi
Promotion is always nice, Japan is a bit more welcoming of that sort of thing anyways. let's import the cups
Jagged Jagen
People will be using this to back their FE has gone commercial arguments for decades! In all seriousness though, promotions of this type aren't uncommon, but I'm surprised it's not an e-shop card.
Sentinel07
Not too surprising. Despite the inconsistent sales, Fire Emblem has always had some mainstream appeal in Japan.
Philranger
Dude! I want a FE themed slurpee cup! Although when I had to relocate for work I had to move from a 7-11 town to a Quik Trip town so I'd have to drive a couple hours to the closest 7-11. Neoleo21
Well...its more advertisement than what Xenoblade X got. Ah well, shows Nintendo has more interest in expanding FE than making Xenoblade a bigger thing (though it probably has more interest in the west). Ah well, shows Nintendo has more interest in expanding FE than making Xenoblade a bigger thing (though it probably has more interest in the west). I think it's because Nintendo knows Xenoblade is more popular in the west and that Xenoblade X wasn't going to sell a lot in Japan anyway (console market is awful there after all). sforzur
This actually isn't odd or uncommon in the slightest. Japanese 7-11s are convenient realtors for CDs, magazines, movies, video games... The food is a whole lot better, too, but that's beside the point. http://sp.7netshopping.jp/all/ 7-11 recently offered exclusive Tales of Zestiria DLC for preorders, for example, and they've collaborated with Animal Crossing: New Leaf before, as well. They do something similar with CDs, too. (Generally unique novelties like pictures or trading cards.)
