Zero would always stay by him, and the two left many tales behind. By their late life, they opened a small orphanage for unpriviledged kids and lived there. No mention of adopting a single kid there. It is; it's just that Eponine will continue to not exist. They didn't adpot Eponine's equivalent or something like some of the earlier discussions seemed to suggest.
