Hello, i have strange problem....

I in clean rom-xorpads apply patch and got working cia, BUT 3ds dont work...

Gateway say fragmentation error only with patched rom...

Have you tried deleting everything on the Gateway microSD, then copying it all back at once? A fragmentation error should mean your .3ds files are fragmented (split up into chunks spread through the storage space rather than altogether, it happens when moving files around and the Gateway can't handle this), this is fixed by defragmenting, and the method I just described is the fastest way to do it.

After deleting the icon.bin in one of the folders under Patch, I think exe folder, (there are only 2 files in that folder), my dlcs worked again. Had to repatch the whole thing.

To fix the dlc problem. You need to repatch (the clean ROM) after deleting the icon.bin file.

The icon.bin file is inside the 2.1a patch folder:

Fire Emblem If- English Translation [Chapter Patch + Menu Patch][v2.1a]\Patch\exe\icon.bin

I can confirm that this fixes the dlc problem with patch 2.1a on gateway.

This worked.

This is a common error with the micro sd card of the red Gateway cart. It has nothing to do with the patch. Just delete your file from your micro sd card and recopy your roms back in. Better to just use one game like Fire Emblem Fates in one micro sd card just to be safe. Or just use cia.

I would be use this IF: dlc work in cia eur region emunand)

I already try another micro sd cards (2), japanese work great in 3ds and see cia (pathed give me error [FacePalm])

Ugh, maybe i change region... No, i would not wanna that...

Does it work for cia too? Or only for 3ds? I think dlc regionlocked to japnand? And GW for dlc not delete it for cia apps?

Thanks to cmenada now my emunand see dlc! Here, what you need to do:

http://www.3dsiso.com/showthread.php?268735-Tutorial-Using-Out-Of-Region-DLC-with-Rxtools-and-NTR-CFW-3-0

Works in cia perfect! And dont need change region of nand (GW lastest - Emunand lastest - EUR checked!)

Oh, strange... I try create Xorpads (Before i useng downloaded), but it dont give me ncchinfo.bin

Drag&Drop your dumped .3ds-file on ncchinfo_gen.py

Whats wrong? Using others (find online ctrKeyGen_Normal.py and ctrKeyGen.py) give me ncchinfo.bin

But they dont give xorpads that i need for patch... ctrKeyGen_Decrypt9.py dont work and from readme dont work too

Any help (I want too understand why it dont want generate it =\)

Since it seems the TL's prefer to use this thread instead I guess I'll just post here.

I finally had time today to start working on the dialogue texts, but I ran across a snag. I've never used code before, so I found some parts to be out of order when I was deleting the code to find the dialogue. Problem is I have no clue what parts of the chapter they actually belong in, is there any way for me to figure that out?

(This is not for the patch! I'm compiling a log of the translated texts for those who can't use the patch due to the firmware problem.)

@Ben_413 That's privacy and I wouldn't recommend doing it. At least, the group does not support it.

Opps! It's a bit late...

But I DO down a copy of the game, so it's okay, right? Right...? :c

Oh well, at least I got it working. :T

Uhh.... you should never, ever delete any of the code stuff in the text, especially if you don't understand their function.

This isn't for the patch itself. (I knew I wasn't being specific enough.>.<) I'm making a log for the translated dialogue for those who can't use the patch due to the firmware issue.

What's your snag? (And you do know about the code remover app....right?)

Yeah, though I remember you mentioning to someone that it doesn't remove it all properly sometimes.

And the problem is the placement of certain character sentences that aren't in order. Like say after line 11 in the code, there is a break that skips over to Elise's dialogue in line 12. The only reason why I knew lines 16 and 26 go in between for that is because I watched the video for the prologue as a reference.

The code isn't necessarily always in order. An easy way to check, I suppose, would be to run it through SciresM's FEITS.

So the problem is that you aren't able to tell which dialogue line belongs to which character?

Hopefully I'm getting at the right question, but either way I think this may make your job a lot easier. A quick way is to check for either $Wa (better for chapters) or $Ws (better for supports).

In a program other than Word or Notepad (ex. Sublime Text or Notepad++), Ctrl+H and search for $Wa. In the "replace" box, replace it with $Wa and a line break (ctrl+enter).

Then it should look something like this. You can determine which character is speaking from the VOICE_(CHARACTERNAME)_whatever, and their lines are right after the |.

This way, you don't really have to delete as much code (if any at all). If it's still hard to read, do the same for \n and $k$p.

I'm terrible at explaining things, really I am. Since I know a good amount of people can't play the game due to hardware issues, I wanted to make logs for each of the chapters that explained the events of them so that they would have something to refer to. Though both methods do help with me sorting everything out, the problem is in the code the order of events aren't in order.

I'll be more specific with the previous example. The prologue starts out with you and Hinoka fighting a brigand, (Or whatever it is.) after you take your turn it should move toward the fight between Ryouma and Marks, but instead it skips that and moves to Elise and the problem with the broken bridge. I only knew how to put the events back in order because I watched a video of the english patch for reference.

Does that explain it a bit better? >.<

Unfortunately, that's just how the code is. We will probably release a full script after finishing the normal patch, but until then all I guess you could reference to are the videos :/

Here are the links for our "official" videos:

Hoshido

Nohr

(We have not released the Invisible Kingdom files yet so there won't be videos)

I'll try to piece together a script still. I know a little Japanese so I understand most of the names to probably set it in order, but I only know enough to get bits out of most of the conversations. It should still help a little though if I can find enough phrases to match up with the translated versions. I'll do my best with it.

Edit: Just checked out the links, I'll be able to work with that xD. It will be a few days though because of work, but I'll get on it.

First of all, well done. You are being very fast in translating, guys. And I think that every Fire Emblem fan should be grateful to you.
I have just a question: I buyed the Special Edition from Japan, is it possible somehow to patch directly the cartridge? I have read something about it in the tutorial you put in the post, but being Italian, I didn't understand clearly. Thank you in advance if you'll reply.

You can't patch the retail cartridge itself. Every change will break the original signature which means: The game can't be played on a legit console without patched out signaturechecks anymore.

You can patch the game "temporary" (not the cartridge itself) by using NTR_CFW, There's a tutorial for it in the WWW but officialy we doesn't support this method anymore

Understood, thank you very much. Just asking, you don't support it because it doesn't work well or for other reasons?

Basically, yes. We don't support NTR_CFW because it's highly unstable - a lot of users reported problems when trying to apply the patch via CFW.

Hello, spanish guy here. I wanted to say thanks for all your work. Not only the translation is fast, I find it polished ,easy to read and understand, specially the skills, weapons descriptions...the "meat" of the game itself.

I think the game is completely playable for non japanese readers (until chapter 13 of course) and for the supports I'm using the big topic on this site since they are already a lot of them translated

Just got 2.1alpha,

DLC no longer works again. Same as last time the translation broke something.

Rolling back to 2.0 until fixed.

edit: rolled back and DLC is recognized again on 2.0 patch

Which method are you using to run the game?

edit

from users at 3dsiso

Hmm, does anyone using a gateway have a problem with the dlc not reading? I have both 2.0 and 2.1 versions of the patched from this thread and while the 2.0 version reads the dlc just fine the 2.1 version doesnt x.x
I had the same problem with the dlc, the 2.0 version reads the dlc but the 2.1 doesn't. The only solution I have found is patching the game myself following the instructions I have found in sereneforest, since it appears you need to delete a file before patching to make the dlc work with gateway.

yeah others are having the issue too. What made this happen before, in the earlier patch? It was fixed pretty quickly.

Yeah the instructions can be confusing, but you can save yourself some trouble if you get the xorpads for the game. Just search on this site for the xorpad, I got myself one earlier today. Then you just need to delete the "icon.bin" file before patching the clean rom.

The icon.bin file is inside the 2.1a patch folder:

Fire Emblem If- English Translation [Chapter Patch + Menu Patch][v2.1a]\Patch\exe\icon.bin
