Crusticus
Alright, so you're probably thinking "FE backwards? What?"... My idea primarily stems off of a hack of Fire Red, titled Der Erif. While Der Erif has a totally reasonable "what if?" attached to it, by giving you access to Cinnabar Island instead of Pallet town. I honestly just feel like this concept would make for a very interesting FE hack, but it would make absolutely no sense story-wise in comparison. Anyways, weird story aside, I present to you... Senots Dercas eht Melbme erif! (aka Fire Emblem the Sacred Stones, backwards. Original, I know!) The game would begin with Eirika fighting against the Demon Lord, Fomortiis. Of course, since this is the first chapter they'll both be rebalanced accordingly. the game would scale as a normal FE8 playthrough, the only difference would be the maps/recruitments you get on each map. (I'd adjust recruitment so you don't get screwed with just Eirika until you get to the chapter w/ notSyrene, and have the characters still show up at the original time ie Moulder appears in "ch2".) The maps of each chapter will be resized based on difficulty. The original prologue map will be spacier, while the map w/ Lyon will be about as big as chapter 1. There will still be split routes, but if I can, I'll make them occur at the old ch16 where you typically meet up, so it'd make more sense gameplay-wise. There would be some class rebalancing&reclassing, to keep the game interesting. If I get deep into this concept I may add custom classes/animations, because I'm a huge sucker for playable Soldiers/Halberdiers. Seth would still be everybody's favorite Oifaye, of course. Finally, the final boss would be... you know him, you love him, O'Neill! A simple Grado soldier doing his job... look how far he's come. I haven't decided what to do with him, but considering he'd be the final boss I would definitely give him something unique to his name. Given I even get this out of the concept phase. While I feel pretty good about the concept alone (not mentioning my lack of hacking skills), I just wanted to get it out to anybody who would give me their two cents. I don't want to start a project until I'm 100% sure it'll be something both I and maybe some of the community can get behind. Most of what I want to do seems easy enough to get behind with Nightmare and lots of backups. My one fear is not knowing how to handle splitting paths. We'll get there when we get there, though, right? [spoiler=Class Changes, open to comments] Doc found here. Feel free to leave comments on what you think could be tweaked! Agro
couldn't help it. I think this would be awesome to watch and play, especially if you plan on doing script revisions accordingly. Alfred kamon might be as good user to ask about FE8; otherwise feel free to post questions in the forum and we'll do our best to help. Lamia
it could be a very interesting prospect; with enough good writing, you could have a winner

Alfred kamon might be as good user to ask about FE8; otherwise feel free to post questions in the forum and we'll do our best to help. Of course! I'd go for the more humorous route, like as if Eirika was confused to why her stats are so low as she's fighting Fomortiis and where everybody is, and such. I'll start out with writing a script before I delve into any ROM hacking. I've heard of Alfred and seen some of the stuff he's done, so I'll make sure to try and ask him if I run across something I can't handle. it could be a very interesting prospect; with enough good writing, you could have a winner I'm not known for my writing but I try to make sure that if I want to put something out, it's in good quality. I'll get a draft and see if some people would critique it, as well as sticking to the canon. Quick edit: would you guys like to see backwards character recruitment(minus Eirika, of course) or keep it the same? You'd get the same number of characters (ie 2 in ch.1, 4 in ch.2) but instead of having Seth as your prepromote you'd have Syrene and in ch.1 you'd get Myrrh and Knoll(rebalanced somehow, maybe a new "beginner" dragonstone w/o any stat increases for Myrrh and get the better dragonstone in ch.16), then Duessel and Rennac join and you recruit Cormag and Ewan in ch.2, etc. I was thinking of keeping it the same but I'm torn on which one I'd prefer going with. Agro
Reverse recruitment would be cool! IIt'dtd be so awesome to see Gotoh-Seth join in the last chapter.

Crusticus
Seth should stay Paladin. :\ Okay. This is just a first draft, there are some units I don't know what to do with yet. Thanks for your input!
Kaede Ryusaki
I would like to see reverse recruitment so that we get marisa earlier :P
Crusticus
I would like to see reverse recruitment so that we get marisa earlier :P You're in luck, then! I will also make an effort in keeping all characters viable without grinding. Joshua is now in the same chapter you'd normally get Marisa, so to compensate I decided he'll most likely be a Swordmaster by then. (If not, I'll just increase his base level)
Blackzero
So bassically it starts out with Erika(Or whoever it will be) defeating the Demon King, who reverts back to(or turns into?) Lyon, which you fight him then. Then when the route split occurs, if you go whoever replaces Ephraim(Or him if he is still in the main character slot), after defeating two of Grado's generals in a desert, he(or possibly she) takes the fight to their emperor, and after defeating him the rest of the game is about wiping out the remains of the Grado army, along with the remaining monsters in the land? Eirika and Ephraim are going to be the only two who will be recruited at their normal times, everybody else is reversed. The story will start from the final chapter, so this will be assuming you've fought everybody in previous chapters. a tl;dr version of the rough script as of now: this is an alternate universe where the Demon King escapes being destroyed by Eirika/Ephraim and crew, and uses the remainder of his power to revive the fallen Grado soldiers and creatures you fought through. He manages to acquire a new vassal.
