I just need to stop screwing up.I've actually played a bit of both EoSD and PCB, and they felt harder to me than SoEW does. Or something. PCB is one of the hardest games on lower difficulties. it has a low inter mode curve though, so it has one of the easier higher difficulties. Don't like it because it's too hard or too easy to get extends? I find I tend to get them around the same points in every run - I don't worry about collecting everything, just as much as I can and never try to collect when I might die. Yuuka's too slow to pick up most stuff anyway. If you focus on dodging then you won't need the extends. You get an Extend for every 100 point items, and normal players will generally fall in the 300-400 range (i.e. 3 Extends outside of midbosses). The worst thing is when you die fighting her and fail to catch the falling s-things because you'll be stuck with really low power for the rest of the boss fight if that happens. Happened to me once.
