It doesn't seem like you used Farcaster Abuse/Smoke Bombs and I couldn't imagine fighting Rajang with a Switch Axe. I did farcaster once. I don't remember the combination for farcaster so I didn't bring a whole bunch of them. I didn't use smoke bombs because a guide stated that they only work for about 30 seconds. Fighting Rajang was honestly tougher than getting it to kill Zinogre. You're right, switch axe doesn't seem like a good weapon for it. Also, I wasn't thinking about elements and the first armor I made for switch axe was Daora's X set, which has -25 thunder element defense. I had G-Rank equipment so that balanced out quite a lot... I think I'm OK at Magala fighting now but for a while I found it to be a really tough monster while enraged. Simply because I found them fast despite their size.
