Best Ending?

Okay, I hate killing characters, but when I get this game, I'm going to want to get the best ending with as many possible characters alive as possible with as many recruited as possible, and I like going to all the gaiden chapters, but it's looking like that's not possible without killing people. Any suggestions for how I should play the game?

If you've never played FE1/3 before, I recommend skipping the gaidens first. You could trick your way into 24x if you want though, but you'll get a different character instead of Gato.

To ensure that the idiot player who kills off all his units has some characters for the rest of the game. ^_^

Extra story/characters/items. 24x is probably the best of the lot though, since you get two legendary-equivalent weapons there.

you can concentrate on the 15 and have several more chapters to train them up.

The characters aren't worth noting since you're losing quite a few just to get one each time >_>

First time I played this game, I went through it normally by keeping every1 alive... that is until I reached chapter 17 where I decided to just "skip" every chapter >_>.

Now I play with gaidens because they have more EXP for your team to take and most of the characters in this game don't come close to being as good as the high tier characters. Plus, if you enter a chapter that has like a 15 unit limit and you got only 10 units, you'll be given generic ones to take the remaining spots. You don't have to worry about the generics getting killed since you'll just get more whenever such a situation rises.
