FE4 Bows and Magic

I tried giving Sigurd light magic and noticed the animation doesn't work properly: he does raise his arm to cast the magic but the spell's animation doesn't play and he vanishes after activating pursuit.

A similar thing happens in the Shin Patch with Dew using bows.

How do I make a class able to use bows or magic properly? Can I do it with nightmare?

battle sprite editor in the FE4 nightmare modules package

ensure all entries for one class are next to each other

as for the shin patch, that sounds like an oversight by shin
