If the Arthur Dent you know is a remarkably average man living near London, with an outlook on life only rivaled by a clinically depressed android, then yes. I do vaguely remember tea being a thing in at least the first book though, so I'd say you've got a good chance of being right! I remember downloading a (probably unofficial) port of that game on my old Android phone. If one might wish to amuse themselves with this game, you can most easily play the Anniversary Version here. And it seems to be letting me play just fine, so it at least works in the US as well.
