Finally!

Recommended Posts

After a while of my laptop flatly refusing to download anything at all, I can now play FE6!

So far, I'm at Ch 8. (Normal mode, as Hard mode is not available yet >.<)

Insofar, best units I have are Rutger (level 9 Myrmidon, Dieck(also lvl 9), Alan (erm...level 9 again), Chad (guess what? lvl 9) and Lugh (lvl 8 with 86 EXP! Whoo!).

I've tried to train everyone as evenly as possible. I gave up on that idea several chapters ago as I realised just how many characters there are. Ellen (lvl 9....) is acting as primary healer, while Clarine (lvl 8!) is close second. (When you split into two teams as much as I do, I need two healers). (Whoo for epic brackets!)

I doubt hard mode would be very pleasant if you're trying to level everyone up evenly...

Might just want to dump Ellen and stick with Clarine. Ellen is pretty atrocious and that's 7 levels that could've gone to Clarine instead...

Lance > Alan. Use Lance instead, and make sure to have a LanceXAlanXRoy Support Triangle.

How can you "use Lance instead" and then have a Lance/alen/roy triangle...?

You can have the support build up early and it helps then ditch one of the cavaliers or use both since they're pretty similar.

Early game is usually the most problematic part in FE6, specially in hard mode.

I don't really like the idea of building a support and then dumping the character, but considering Alen can't support anyone else worth a damn and Lance's only real other option is Clarine... hm.

And yeah... it is. It levels off after around Chapter 7... I can't remember off the top of my head if there's any really hard chapters after that hellish one but the game is pretty smooth afterwards.

Also, if you want a good axe user (chapter 21 says hi), then in chapter 9, it is advisable to visit the left village. You'll get the good Gonzales, who is perhaps easily the best main axe user and definately best Berserker in the game.

I'm quite sure lots of people don't like the idea of starting something and then ditching it later like supports in FE games so yeah, you're not alone on that. Unless the playthrough is ranked, not much will matter to me really because on a non-ranked playthrough the point is to simply beat the game and that's it. In FEDS, I tend to have Chiki or Nagi suicide on Mediuth to beat the chapter in 1 turn (I could also do it by simply giving Maric and the cavs more levels but I skip some chapters >_>).

There are some troublesome chapters mid-game and lategame but by then you should have ways of dealing with them that they won't seem like much of a problem. I personally hate how I can't control what units I deploy in the first 5 chapters >_<

There are some minor advantages in using Lance or Alan instead of both. Such as having a smaller team, which can be a problem in some smaller chapters.

You can deploy 12-14 characters in most chapters. Using both characters and A supporting with each-other and each getting a B supports gives +5 Attack and +25% Avoid, making Lance and Alan incredible.

Clarine can't be in two places at once or heal twice per turn, so no.

Also, use all three healers for massive win.

All three? Eh no. Light is bad, Magic can be used to apply decent damage early on and later on, and you simply don't get enough Guiding Rings to use Lugh, Ellen, Clarine, and Saul.

And that last reason is fairly powerful, as it's probably the only thing to stop you using Rei. And even if it wasn't all that valid, you could just as soon use Rei over Saul. . .

Light magic isn't that bad. It's just like anima except with less hit and no aircalibur.

And using a ton of healers means you get magic doods leveled up without having to split kills with them, meaning more kills for others. And your whole team is liek always at full hp.

You can get as many as you want of any promotion item at the end of ch 16 since you can buy them there. Trade in a promo item you don't want, and get a guiding ring.

And what keeps me from using Rei is his horrible spd. He joins with 8 AS. That even gets him doubled by some. And his hit is pretty bad, too. Once you get him to promotion, he's ok, but he sucks before then.

Even using all three healers, you can have Ellen promoted by about the time Rei joins, and Saul promoted by the time you get ch 14's ring. Clarine's level is the lowest, so she doesn't reach 20 until shortly before 16 anyway.

The only issue is that Lugh may have to promote a bit late.

Healers get a class exp bonus (+20 to kill exp), so Ellen still gains about as much exp as Rei does when he joins even though she's already promoted. And she gets exp from staves. So her level stays high, so her spd isn't horrible even though her spd per level is pretty bad. Saul's level gets pretty high, too, for the same reasons, so he'll be uberfast.

Saul's luck is pretty terrible, and he doesn't have many good supports, so his avoid doesn't get very high despite his high spd, and his hp and def aren't good, so he has some durability issues.

Ellen's luck is brokenly high, so her avoid is pretty decent despite mehish speed, and her atk power is pretty good, but again, she has mehish spd, so she'll often not double. On hard mode, that is. On NM, her average spd is still enough to double all but the fastest.

Clarine has massive spd like Saul and wtfmassive avoid, but her attack power is terrible.

May as well throw Lugh in there... He's not as fast as Saul and doesn't have as much atk or avoid as Ellen, but he has more spd and def than Ellen and more atk than Saul. And then compared to Clarine and her lolimbalanced stats, he has less spd and way less avoid but way more atk.

And Rei. Once he promotes, he's like Ellen except with less hit, less crit, less avoid, and more def. Oh and less res.

Which is another thing I neglected to mention. Ellen has wtfmassive res, Lugh's is pretty meh, and Clarine and Saul fall about midway between. And Rei in between Lugh and Clarine/Saul. Why should you care about res leads on magic users? Well, when hard mode sages have 33 atk and massive hit, they're pretty dangerous. Or enemy druids with their 37 atk. Lugh can get 2HK'd by enemy magic-users. That's pretty harsh. Ellen, on the other hand, takes like 5 damage. Also enemy staffers. Not getting sleep/silence'd is nice.
