Ronnie
I always thought Brisk had a more unique taste than other iced teas like Arizona or Snapple. I finally looked at the ingredients and the first thing on the list is high fructose corn syrup. I've been enlightened, and fattened. Dragoncat
Welp. Time to never drink Brisk again.
Von Ithipathachai
It's a good thing I don't like tea. But then again I prefer soda, which is probably worse.
EricaofRenais
That is why I make my own, all you need is a warm sunny day a quart jar water and tea bags. Once you fill the the jar with tea bags and water just leave it in the sun for a couple of hours and there you go, iced tea, sweeten with you favorite sweet stuff. Otherwise it's bitter as hell even with sugar.
Dragoncat
I like peach tea. You can get mixes for that too. I very rarely buy tea in bottles or cans, most of the time I'll buy pop/soda. @Ronnie wouldn't lemons make it more bitter/sour? Ronnie
Nah, lemons cut the bitterness with its sourness. Combine that with a bit of sugar and it's a refreshing sweet drink.

lunablaster
Wow, well then it's a good thing I've been choosing Arizona over Brisk. I had no idea.
Dragoncat
I'm type 2 diabetic so...high fructose corn syrup probably isn't a good thing for me to be consuming. Plus it doesn't occur naturally in tea so yeah.

I buy lemons and put a slice in the water with the tea bags. It works very well. @Dragoncat High fructose corn syrup does a number on blood sugar, as a type one diabetic I know because I used to eat food with it in it and then my sugars would do a roller coaster. Once I cut that out of my diet my sugars became easier to handle.

So you have to inject insulin because you don't make it at all, right? Whereas I make some, but not enough. That's how I know the difference and explain it to people anyway. You probably can't eat any sweets or sugary stuff either, which also sucks. Mine's kept under control with pills, knock on wood.

I use an insulin pump which mimics the way a pancreas gives insulin in that it gives me little bits of insulin every hour and I give a bigger dose when I eat. I can eat some sugar, I just have to count how much sugar is in the in the food I eat and give insulin for it. As to the difference between the types yes you have it right, type ones have to take insulin to stay alive, while types twos make some insulin but not enough to stay healthy, and can control it with pills most of the time. Ronnie
Update: even Arizona has high fructose corn syrup. Okay Snapple, you win.

There are a few things to avoid such as regular soda because sugar in a liquid form just blasts your numbers in a matter of 5 minutes. However I still drink soda from time to time if my blood sugar is low or close to low (just take some insulin) and I also treat myself with diet sodas and drinks, i dont drink it often though because no mainstream brand companies use a healthy sweetener and almost always use sucralose. Three years late, but- 1) You didn't find out what makes Brisk taste different if Arizona has the same quality B) How are you surprised that Arizona Iced Tea contains corn syrup? Unrelated to corn syrup but related to tea, I usually make my own just for cost reasons. A box of Lipton isn't much and can produce several pots. You don't even need to wait for a hot day, you can just boil the water.
