Ice Dragon Posted October 2, 2018 Share Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) Tiki, Legendary Dragon An absolute monster of a unit hindered only by her low movement range, melee initiation, and vulnerability to armor- and dragon-effective weaponry, Tiki sports the highest stat total currently available in the game, allowing her to have access to have high values in all five stats on top of access to armor-exclusive combat skills, an exclusive weapon with innate Distant Counter, and a strong exclusive support skill. To top it all off, she comes pre-built with a nearly optimal skill set right from the start. Her exclusive support skill, With Everyone!, is equivalent to the combination of Fortify Def 4 and Fortify Res 4, having no movement type or weapon type restriction, and also applies those buffs to herself if there is at least one adjacent ally, similarly to Armor March. On mixed teams, she can supply both defensive buffs for the team and herself, freeing up her teammates to exclusively run offensive buffs or even Spurs or Drives, which can buff her further. When run with an armored teammate, her teammate can run Armor March, allowing both units to enjoy the benefits of both buffs. Tiki's preferred nature is [+Atk, -Res], though pretty much everything is usable. Her high Spd stat and lack of access to Slaying weapons means she needs to run Bonfire instead of Ignis to activate a Special in a single round of combat. Thankfully, she doesn't lose much for it. Fierce Breath and Steady Breath gives her Special charge acceleration to fully charge Bonfire for her second attack on enemy phase with Fierce Breath providing a bit more damage, adding to her one-hit kill potential, and Steady Breath providing a bit more bulk, if enemy physical Bold Fighter armors are a problem. Otherwise, this is the standard Bold Fighter template build. Other options: As with any Bold Fighter build, Death Blow 4 can be used in the passive A slot to maximize her player-phase performance at the cost of her enemy-phase performance. Special Fighter, dual phase (optimal) General use, Arena offense, Arena defense Spoiler Nature: [+Atk, -Res] / [flexible] Divine Mist Swap / Reposition / Pivot Ignis / Moonbow Death Blow 4 / Swift Sparrow 2 Special Fighter 3 With Everyone! / Ward Armor / [flexible] Quick Riposte 3 As a fast armor, Tiki has the option of running a build with Special Fighter 3, which boasts a stronger enemy phase that is less vulnerable to enemy Special skills at the cost of a weaker player phase. Tiki's preferred nature is [+Atk, -Res], though pretty much everything is usable. Ignis is her preferred Special skill, activating on her second attack on either phase. Moonbow is weaker, but also usable. Death Blow 4 allows her to focus on landing one-hit kills on her player phase to close some of the gap from losing Bold Fighter. Death Blow 3 and Swift Sparrow 2 are slightly weaker options with a similar effect. Special Fighter, enemy phase General use, Arena offense Spoiler Nature: [+Spd, -Atk] / [+Spd, -Res] / [flexible] Divine Mist Swap / Reposition / Pivot Ignis Kestrel Stance 2 / Darting Stance 3 / Close Def 3 Special Fighter 3 With Everyone! / Ward Armor / [flexible] Quick Riposte 3 Tiki also has the option of running a more enemy-phase-centric build with Special Fighter, doubling down on her high Spd stat to block most enemy follow-up attacks. However, this comes at a large cost to her player phase. Tiki's preferred nature is [+Spd, -Atk] or [+Spd, -Res], though pretty much everything is usable. Note that -Atk out-performs other banes when fully buffed due to the damage output of Ignis being overkill on many opponents. Kestrel Stance 2, Darting Stance 3, and Close Def 3 perform comparably to each other with slight differences depending on the combatants' buffs and merge levels. A fully Spd-invested Tiki (+10 merge, +Spd, Darting Stance 3, +6 Spd), however, does notably exactly block the follow-up attack from standard +10 Caeda [+Atk] (Wing Sword [unique], Swift Sparrow 2) +0/6. Quick Riposte guarantees her a double on enemy phase regardless of Spd (unless the opponent both has a means of blocking the double and is fast enough to not be doubled naturally), so it would only be necessary on player phase. For player phase, she has enough Atk, especially with Death Blow, to flat out one-hit kill a lot of the fast red units, and adaptive damage helps also grab one-hit kills against the squishier fast blue tomes. Additionally, due to being a melee unit, it's generally easier for her to engage in combat on enemy phase instead of player phase. As for the Res bane, it's mostly because her match-ups against magic are typically determined by the opponent's first hit (Tiki cleanly dies), the first counterattack (the opponent cleanly dies), or the opponent's second hit (Tiki dies by a huge margin against buffed Blarblade or survives by a decent margin against most other things that aren't green). Changing a Res bane for an HP bane doesn't change the result of the first hit, and a boost of 3 bulk doesn't actually change the result of many match-ups, though this does depend a bit on both combatants' merge levels and buffs (I've been running simulations typically with +0/0/5/5 or +6/6/5/5 on Tiki and +6/6/3/3 or +3/3/3/3 on opponents). Full filtered list is shit for realistic comparisons. Kestrel Stance is only slightly better than Close Def, having a few more wins against reds and mixed performance against blues (notably losing to Bold Fighter Hector). And actually, Darting Stance is even better than Kestrel Stance if you're running full buffs (+6/6/5/5), but worse if you're not (+0/6/5/5 or +0/0/5/5). I'll put in the adjustments. EDIT: @XRay I played a bit with other combinations at +10 merge and found Kestrel Stance, Darting Stance, and Close Def to be roughly equivalent to each other and which one being better to be highly dependent on the amount of buffs each side has. And [+Spd, -Atk] interestingly has comparable or better match-ups to other banes, so I'm listing it in conjunction with [+Spd, -Res]. Additionally, due to being a melee unit, it's generally easier for her to engage in combat on enemy phase instead of player phase. As for the Res bane, it's mostly because her match-ups against magic are typically determined by the opponent's first hit (Tiki cleanly dies), the first counterattack (the opponent cleanly dies), or the opponent's second hit (Tiki dies by a huge margin against buffed Blarblade or survives by a decent margin against most other things that aren't green). Changing a Res bane for an HP bane doesn't change the result of the first hit, and a boost of 3 bulk doesn't actually change the result of many match-ups, though this does depend a bit on both combatants' merge levels and buffs (I've been running simulations typically with +0/0/5/5 or +6/6/5/5 on Tiki and +6/6/3/3 or +3/3/3/3 on opponents). However, as I mentioned, there are a lot of natures that you can make work for her on either build. Cool well can't argue with the simulations, sound like you guys did your homework.
