The 'Waifu Song'?

(With apologies to people who don't like Phil Collins.)

I know this song was written about pin-up girls in magazines, but I just cannot hear the lyrics from the perspective of anyone other than an otaku obsessed with his waifu.  (Specifically this one guy obsessed with Emi from Sailor Moon who had made a fansite for her way back in the 90's that survived into at least the earlier 2010s.  I'd look for the site or the video clip showing it, but I don't know where to find either.)

I'd say this is the Waifu Song, yeah. Especially the lines about "fiction" and "I can never make you real"
