Rimbaldi
I’m trying to build viable Arena Assault teams from my 5 stars. I have the following 5 stars to use: Cherche, Wyvern Friend Elincia, Lost Princess Hector, Marquess of Ostia Ike, Vanguard Legend Lyn, Brave Lady Nowi, Eternal Youth Raven, Peerless Fighter Reinhardt, Thunder's Fist Tiki, Beachside Scion x2 Veronica, Brave Princess Fae, Divine Dragon Corrin, Dream Prince x2 Leanne, Forest's Song x2 Hinoka, Warrior Princess Eir, Merciful Death Camilla, Steamy Secrets Fjorm, Princess of Ice x2 Robin, High Deliverer Nowi, Eternal Witch Minerva, Red Dragon Maria, Minerva's Sister Tana, Nobel and Nimble Takumi, Prince of Soup x2 Libra, Fetching Friar Clarine, Refined Noble Titania, Warm Knight So my question is who should be matched with who? What skills or builds should I try to use to make them the best they can be?
Chocolate Kitty
You don't really need to make arena assault teams; you just adjust the units on each team to the threats that you're presented with on the later rounds
Javi Blizz
What I usually do is build units that I don’t plan to merge at 5* as 4*+10 with Gem Weapon (without +, just the 3* version) or TA + Breaker, and if they run a Gem Weapon, Steady Stance or Armored Blow as their A skill. And it works better than expected

Team 1 should ideally consist of all or mostly armor units for scoring purposes. It does not matter if it sucks as long as it scores high, since you can just spam surrender until you find an easy enemy team. If you do not see yourself whaling for 5* exclusive armors to merge to +10, then focus on armors in the 3*-4* pool like Draug, Effie, Gwendolyn, and Sheena since they can be more easily summoned. I personally run Zephiel 5*+5, Effie 5*+5 [+Atk], and Sheena 5*+5 [+Def] (I might switch to +Atk), and either BB!Lyn 5*+10 or NS!F!Corrin 5*+10 on the fourth slot for either more healing or mobility; I usually stick with BB!Lyn for healing, but I occasionally switch to NS!F!Corrin if I get sick of their abysmal movement. As others have said, if you are just starting the game as a relatively new player, Teams 2-7 should not be permanent teams at all, and you should preview the enemy team and simply pick counters in your Barracks who can easily shutdown the enemy team. If you are free player, mass producing Arena Assault counter units with Gem Weapons, Glimmer, Triangle Adept, and Breakers might be more difficulty, but if you are a paying player, those skills should be cheap and plentiful as skill fodder. As you progress farther into the game, you will receive Blessings and will need to build Blessing teams for Blessed Gardens in Story Maps. In Arena Assault, Blessed units gives you more points, so you will eventually outgrow your need for Arena Assault counters and want to exclusively use Blessed units for Arena Assault. Basically, do not over build Arena Assault counters! You will need about 3 to 5 counters of each primary color (about 9 to 15 total units), and the more generalist units you have, the less counters you need. For example, most players are swimming in a fuck ton of good sword units, so you probably only need about 3 red units with Ruby Sword or Triangle Adept if they are mages. I define generalist units as units that are good against a variety of opponents, e.g.: Tharja and Y!Tiki. Specialists units are units with shit Atk or Enemy Phase units with poor Spd and lopsided Def/Res. Henry falls into the shit Atk category and he is primarily used as a counter unit built as a Raven mage. Xander's poor Spd and lopsided Def/Res means he can often be killed in one shot by green mages like Nino (unless he has Triangle Adept), and the only foes he can fight well against without heavy investment are just axe units. 2 hours ago, Rimbaldi said: What skills or builds should I try to use to make them the best they can be? For my first team on AA, I use OG Marth, OG Nowi, OG Soren (with G Duel) and Lucius (with C Duel). The others 6 teams I use based on the enemy team. I also don't use specific skill sets for my AA teams, with the exception of the first team which I use my Arena skill set.
Nowi's Husband
I don't use preset teams besides the first either. Nowi, Witch Nowi, Fae, Nino with the most expensive skills I have at +10 for the lead. Witch Nowi has Red Duel Flier, and Nino gets Green Infantry version if I get Helbindi. Maria will take Nino's place otherwise once she's +10 since she had Colorless Duel Infantry. Team 1 is a preset for me. Teams 2-7 are not strict presets since I need to change them weekly to match the seasons, but each Dancer/Singer is generally matched with a Firesweep nuke so the Blessing teams are semi permanent, with the rest of the teammates varying depending on the enemy. For example, NYOFAI!Fjorm is paired with VS!Azura for me, but their teammates are variable. All units I use in Arena Assault are Blessed or are Legendary. Rimbaldi
Wow, I think there is a lot I don't understand about this game still lol Currently, I'm using the following tier list to decide who to 5*: https://fireemblem.gamepress.gg/arena-offense-tier-list I'm approaching 300 units now and will have to start culling my roster back. I figured Arena Assault teams were the biggest investment as i need 28 units complete it. I think I may be approaching this the wrong way. So instead, I will focus on building a solid Armor team for the time being and keep bolstering my roster with the best units according to the tier list. Any suggestions on what to do with junk units like Stahl?

I would take tier lists with a grain of salt, since you also need to take into account your own play style and preferences. Tier lists are good starting point to figure out what units and tactics a player prefers, but I would not use it as a guide on how to prioritize resources. I personally abhor melee units unless they are Dancers/Singers, Laevatein, and a few other exceptions. I am not very good at using melee units and armor units in general, so I have a tough time completing difficult content with them. That stands in stark contrast with my affinity for ranged nukes and Dancers/Singers where I can solve most difficult content using my preferred unit types. I would first focus on finding out what type of units and tactics you like to use and invest into that first, as you will need a good team with performance builds that YOU (not anybody else) are comfortable to use to tackle Arena and Aether Raids as those two are the most demanding modes. 4 hours ago, Rimbaldi said: I'm approaching 300 units now and will have to start culling my roster back. 4 hours ago, Rimbaldi said: Any suggestions on what to do with junk units like Stahl? I would expand your Barracks first. I recommend keeping a few copies of each unit around if they have ideal natures, even if you do not use them often. If Stahl is clogging up space and you have a neutral, +Atk, and/or +Def copy of him, I would keep at least one of each of those natures around and turn the rest into Combat Manuals. A good rule of thumb is to keep at least one of each unit. If you have multiple copies, favorite one neutral and one +Atk copy. If a unit is not slow, or if you wish to give a slow unit an unconventional Spd based skill set, then favorite one +Spd copy too. If the unit is a Def tank, Res tank, or a mixed tank, favorite one +Def copy and/or one +Res copy as well. Any unit not favorited can then be turned into Manuals. I generally do not keep any +HP copies and turn them all into Manuals. I do not recommend sending units home at all since the amount of Feathers you gain is almost nothing and it is not worth it in my opinion. Maybe if you have 30 Manuals of a unit and you are in need of some quick Feathers, then sending 20 of those Manuals home is fine. Otherwise, I just let Combat Manuals pile up since you never know when they will give a unit new skills.
Rimbaldi
When you say +Atk or +Def do oyu mean the one that has the highest attack at level 1?
XRay
1 hour ago, Rimbaldi said: When you say +Atk or +Def do oyu mean the one that has the highest attack at level 1? The + sign refers to a unit's Assets. The - sign refers to Flaws, but Flaws are not important anymore since merging gets rid of it. Assets are highlighted in light blue and Flaws are highlighted in red. To turn on the ability to see Assets/Flaws: Tap the <Misc.> icon on the bottom right. Then tap <Settings>. Scroll until you see Asset/Flaw Color Display and tap the option until it says <On>.
Rimbaldi
So after playing for a while, I think i understand character progression now: 1. Check the unit's IV 2. If the IV is good, use feathers to reach 5 stars 3. Level up to 40 4. Inherit skills that compliment the team I want to use the unit on 5. If they have a weapon, refine it 6. Confer blessings to get it to +10? 7. Use Dragonflowers? 8. Merge what? Not sure what to do about the last 3...
SuperTroll Maxim Lapierre
Make Female Robin 5* and give her triangle adept and either Bowbreaker or Quick Riposte. She can counter most Brave Lyn and Reinhardt teams. You might want to build up a Boey or Merric this way also, since Reinhardt and Brave Lyn are popular choices. You can inherit Pain+ onto Clarine and Maria. Tack on Savage Blow for 17 collateral damage to enemies within two spaces of attack target. It is one way of breaking down Surtrs. You want Armor killers. Hana and Bartre will come in handy. If you have onem you should 5* Masked Marth to kill dragons.

Use Feathers to promote to 5* if applicable, and level to 40 again. You want to a unit to have as much SP as possible to learn skills. 5. Refine their Weapon ONLY if you like the unit and use that unit often enough. Refining Stones and Dew are limited, so do not use them lightly. 3 hours ago, Rimbaldi said: 6. Confer blessings to get it to +10? Blessings do not turn a unit to 5*+10. You need 11 copies of the same unit to merge a unit to +10. I do not recommend giving Blessings to anyone until you reach the top 20,000 in Arena Assault and know exactly what type of team composition and play style you prefer. You need Blessed units to enter Blessed Gardens and you need the extra points it provides in Arena Assault. Blessings are a rather limited resource unless you are a whale, so it is not something I recommend using on impulse. You want to give Blessings to units you feel most comfortable with and rely on the most. 3 hours ago, Rimbaldi said: 7. Use Dragonflowers? Dragonflowers are even more limited than Blessings, so I would not use Dragonflowers until you have a better idea of what unit you like to use. Like Blessings, you want to give it to units you feel most comfortable with and rely on the most. 3 hours ago, Rimbaldi said: 8. Merge what? When you have multiple copies of a unit, you can merge them. Tap <Allies> on the bottom of the screen. Tap <Ally Growth>. Tap <Merge Allies>, it is a purple button. You can then merge units in the Merge Allies menu. Keep in mind that when you merge a 4* unit to 4*+10 and promote it to 5*, MERGES DO NOT CARRY OVER. In other words, a 4* unit and a 4*+10 unit will both promote to 5*+0. If you want to turn a 4* unit into 4*+1, you need to use another 4* unit. Merging a 3* unit into a 4* unit WILL NOT turn the 4* unit into 4*+1. You can merge a 5* unit into a 4* unit to turn the 4* unit into 4*+1, but that is generally a waste in my opinion so I do not recommend doing that.
