Her spells are good though if they hit. Oh yeah, she´s gonna start lumbering real soon. She´s gonna tank Magic and Gambits really well. Maybe.

Yeah, I realized I had them after Chapter 1 I've never actually gotten around to play the main game with the DLC on it. The Chalice of Power thing is pretty strong. As for Hapi, been avoiding using magic on her because she's gonna be a fighter and using magic on her will only remind me of what I have lost.

Chapter 2 will forever be remembered due to Hapi missing every other hit she took, dying a collective 4 times because of it. Thankfully, Divine Pulse abuse is ripe in this game and I got her to level up after babying her like crazy. Naturally her level up gave her a point in Charisma and Res only. 

Can you even use divine pulse on the rivalry of the houses? Or did you mean in an aux battle. On ordinary NG, I usually get 1-2 game over screens on this map unless I use the DLC stat boosters. It's not easy!

I didn't catch if this is NG+ or not? I read this is your first maddening run, and with these creative builds I hope it is 🙂 Thanks for the update!

They don’t let you use Divine Pulse until the chapter 2 mission.

You cannot use it on Chapter 1, I had to restart the entire chapter when he got murked. 

Anyways, time for an update on Chapters 3 and 4! 

 

Chapter 3 was a bit rough but once we took out the Dark Mage and made the fog go away it got easier. Hapi only died 3 times this time around. Progress. Raphael has been a godsend this run and I'm a bit sad he's gonna become a dancer because the man has been carrying this team with Byleth and Claude and his magnificent gains. I've gone ahead and done a bit of renown abuse. Mostly to help out with Chapter 4.

Anyways, Chapter 4 wasn't to bad, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't grind out a bit more with my increased professor level to help out before this fight, definitely gonna slow down on the free battles for a bit. Biggest issue here was that I didn't know Death Knight would straight up charge me. Thankfully unlike another Knight in black armor I know, this guy is killable. And Gauntlets really do work on him. I let Mercedes get that last hit on the guy, since Byleth wasn't able to take him out. Biggest issue this map was the mages, they took out Claude on one occasion and Lorenz on another. Hapi was finally useful, due to her decent amount of Res. Mercedes and Marianne were also pretty good this time around for the same reasons. 

EDIT: Forgot to mention that Anna was also really useful here with her Ward ability helping Raphael and Lorenz tank.

Anyways, that concludes todays bit of playtime.

That, I think, can also happen when some enemy decides to step into his range, if you are going around him.

He was low enough to where Mercedes could barely kill him after tanking a few hits from Byleth lol

The death knight MOVING was one of many “welcome to thunderdome” moments in my first maddening run. 
 

I’m impressed your Mercedes could actually damage him at all. Giving her the “kill” is a nice touch. Can you share specifics on what she was using? 

Considering  it’s your first run on maddening and all the builds you’re using I don’t think you ever need to apologize for using renown.

Sorry for the lack of updates the past few days, been busy with Holidays and all that, I did finish up Chapter 5/6 during all this though so I can throw out update for how those went! 

 

Chapter 5 sucked. Like, jesus christ those reinforcement near the top screwed me over hard and this was all absolutely my fault lol. Spent the map abusing the Chalice of Beginnings or whatever it's called to have Byleth take out archers above and this led to the enemy rushing me which wasn't a problem, reinforcement came from behind during this at a really inconvenient time but we dealt with that. What really sucked was the 2 thief's near the top. I had been in a lot of bad positions early on and those 2 screwed me over hard. I ended up having to reset the chapter in full which really sucked. However, this time I was prepared for the 2 thief's. Unfortunately after dealing with them and moving everyone up to deal with the wave of Armored knights coming my way, another 2 thief's came in and proceeded to kill Anna and Mercedes. I honestly laughed. After going back a bit I ended up clearing with mostly no problems. The beast at the end was a bit annoying because only Byleth and Claude(barely) could survive a hit from the guy so I had to blast it with Gambits from everyone like crazy. 

All in all, Chapter 5 was probably the most annoying Chapter I've done so far. 

 

Chapter 6 went by smoothly. I just opted out of grabbing the chests because I didn't even wanna see how it would have gone considering nobody but Raphael, Byleth and Claude have defense. Only difficult part this chapter was Death Knight who 1RKO'd Byleth when I opened the door. After that I let Anna open the door and charged his ass with a couple of Gambits which had little to no effect on him. Thankfully, Byleth is super overleveled and Gauntlets are hilariously overpowered which really go hand in hand with each other. Having finished the chapter I honestly believe I might have been able to actually grab those chests. Oh well. 

But yeah, Chapter 6 was a nice reprieve from Chapter 5.

Yeah Mercedes being able to actually damage him with a Waning shot was wack,. I wanted to try it on Chapter 6 but Death Knight at that point was pretty much at a level where either Byleth 1 rounds him or Death Knight 1 round Byleth, so unfortunately I couldn't continue the meme. I'll give it another shot next time I see him though lol

YEAH BOI; I had a run of that map lasting 60 turns til I got to the boss - the boss itself took another 15.

If you mean the reinforcements from the topright, with no prior tell that I know off, like for example a nice set o´ stairs, they only spawn in when crossing the line of that broken pillar. Ofc, if you try to set up behind that pillar so that you can take care of the thiefs, that triggerst the first enemy group after that pillar for a nice sandwich.
