  1. In no particular order because fuck deciding. I don't even know if they are the absolute top 10, but I've played them all a hell of a lot. 1. Deus Ex 2. Europa Universalis 3 3. Commander Keen (3 or 4, don't remember which) 4. System Shock 2 5. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 6. Civilisation IV 7. Heroes of Might and Magic 3 8. Alpha Centauri 9. X-Com 10. Mount & Blade: Warband
  2. Don't buy a headset, they're shitty headphones with a shitty mic for 3 times the price. A nice set of headphones and a desk/clip-on mic is a far better investment. I absolutely love tribes, but there's no way you could make a good LP of it, a few cool matches and post-match commentary would be pretty sweet though.
  3. Votes don't work for me. I think Wallachia would be interesting, I've never formed Romania before. Byzantium is way to easy.
  4. As excellent as it is, are we considering mods other than DOA + Miscmods? WizEU3 is really, really good and has basically re-invented the game for me. http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3429306 Play anything except Dark Continent, it's boring as fuck.
  5. I use Foobar2000, it's an extremely lightweight, fully customisable player that, properly set up, is a lot nicer to use than Winamp (which I also really like) it sounds better with a few addons too. It can get really fiddly though and is a bitch to use if you don't read through a guide or something. Put it as a voting option so I can vote for it. How mine looks: there are only 800 songs in 'All' because it's a new hard drive, I haven't copied everything across yet. I have about 6000
  6. Jesus Christ, calm down, I had already backed off and she wrote a good thousand words which included adopting people and <3 you guys. I'm not trying to incite any hate here, just giving my impressions from one glance, if I'm wrong that's fine. 'facts from personal experience' Oh lord. I'm not attacking anyone's character, not once did I say that he wasn't a nice person or smart, but that isn't what we were arguing about. Also I couldn't care less about how well-liked you are and how many boyfriends you have.
  7. Didn't read. I'm quite proud someone actually took the time to type out that much for me though. Love you, Sona <3
  8. Respect goes deeper than simply telling your children what they want to hear all the time. He may not like his parents at the moment, everybody goes through phases like that, but I'm sure that they think this is ultimately for the best. I agree there may have been a lighter way to put it though. I'm only going off what I've been told, I have no idea what his situation is really like. To me it sounds like this has been an on-going thing, you have to be able to change yourself before you can try to change things around you. Being treated like a failure is certainly never a good thing in any aspect, but being told these things can force you to face up to your problems, be it school or whatever, and work towards fixing them. Regardless, I'm not going to continue to argue a point when none of us have any information; it's really not fair to Aurora. If he made this thread looking for help I'm sure the people here will try to give him some good advice providing he gives some details about his situation, but at the moment it just looks like he's using it to vent his frustration and get sympathy. Nothing wrong with that either if he's angry.
  9. I'm sure Aurora's parents do love and support him normally, but it would take quite a lot for a parent to call their son a failure, there comes a time where 'You can improve' just doesn't cut it anymore. Sometimes you have to actually be told these things and take a look at yourself rather than constantly blaming the world. Be cruel to be kind and all that jazz.
  10. You probably deserved it if your parents really called you a failure. Sometimes you need to actually wake up and stop being so self entitled.
  11. It was defiantly the worst scene in the series, it did something to establish a little bit more of little-finger's history I guess, but it was so ridiculous, unnecessary and untimely detracted from a rather good episode. I played Genesis for about an hour or so, it's... okay, not terrible by any means, but not great either. If I wanted to play a game like that I'd just play Crusader Kings, there's even an excellent ASOIAF mod for it.
  12. IMO Mayfair/Park Lane needs to drop, despite the huge reward they may give, the sheer cost of fully building them up often outweighs the benefit, especially considering they, along with the browns are one of the least likely properties to land on. Light-blues need to drop and Orange needs to rise, Oranges are the single most landed upon space in a normal game simply because they are directly outside Gaol, and, come late game everyone wants to be in Gaol. There's no reason for Light-blue to be on top besides their price. Why is Green low tier? They are pricey, but have a reasonable return, usually better than Blue.
  13. I've got 2 pieces of coal. Who wants it? I'll accept pretty much anything.
  14. Steam Christmas sales are on. Get cheap games, Gift things, Christmas Winter sale and event has arrived and runs through to the 31st. Each achievement you gain gets you either a gift from the gift pile or a piece of coal that can be used as an entry into the grand draw on the 2nd January. 7 pieces of coal can also be crafted together to create another gift from the gift pile if you don't want to try for the draw. What did everyone get for their free gift today? I got Hydrophobia, anyone want to trade?
  15. I have complained more about far less before. I was also exaggerating a bit, I still have a lot of faith in most people, what sickens me is the fact that I know some of these people and I can no longer think 'Stupid {insert foreign country/city here}' this rubbish is on my doorstep. But, please, feel free to continue the philosophical discussion.
  16. So, like most nights were I've nothing better to do I was looking at stupid shit on the internet, when I came across this video, maybe some of you have seen it, maybe you haven't, I don't care watch it anyway, it's horrible. Normally I'd be horrified for a few moments, think "Stupid anime" and move on, but NOOOUPE I know exactly where that is, I live 10 minutes away and even know a few people in it, including the stupid NYAN girl. She manages to be just as obnoxious in real life. I thought my city was better than that, I really did, I don't know what to think now. Feel free to share any similar-ish stories you may have I guess, or any stories at all, i need some cheering up.
  17. I only noticed this because I got a flood of emails, thanks everyone!

  18. Awesome, I loved Fallout Tactics despite everyone seeming to think it's awful, I'll be watching this.
  19. CrashGordon, Did you know Rita before she was murdered? it wasn't me who killed her by the way.
  20. what was your relationship with Rita?
  21. While, yes, it is impossible to really determine what the ‘best game is ever'. What you're saying is that the game is archaic by today's standards when it really isn't at all, DX is just as playable today as when it was released. The graphics and shooting mechanics may be a bit iffy, but they were bad for its time too. Have you actually played the game?
  22. I had no problem with load times at release, what GPU/CPU do you have? The GOTY thing was more a joke if anything; the game had a crazy amount of hype, although unless Skyrim is a masterpiece, it looks as if it will be GOTY. Tanks recharge health and Origin, that is all.
  23. While still valid, a lot of those points are only a problem on the console version, I've not noticed any loading longer than about 5secs, the controls are fine on a keyboard too (although mouse 3 for iron sights takes some getting used to). You are right about the soundtrack though, it's amazing, Jensen's apartment in particular I felt had amazing amounts of character emphasised by the music. I'd give the PC version a 9 If you get the jump Aug without Icarus, you can die running down stairs, it's amazing.
  24. The original Deus Ex is the best game ever made, and it's recently released prequel, Human Revolution has been met with near universal critical-acclaim. While not quite as good as the original, it certainly is the Deus Ex for this generation, a return to the days when games weren’t all about 6 hour long blood fests. What on Earth is a 'Deus Ex'? As I've previously said, Deus Ex is the best game ever made, an RPG/FPS hybrid set in the year 2052, you play JC Denton, an agent under UNATCO, The United Nations Anti-Terrorist coalition formed after an attack on the Statue of Liberty. From there you begin to unravel an age old conspiracy in a world revenged by plague, poverty and corruption. It is a truly amazing game and available here for as little as $10 http://store.steampowered.com/app/6910/ Right, So why should I care about this one then? Because as well as being a new Deus Ex game, it is very, very good in its own right, finding a near perfect balance between stealth, action and RPG'ing. The most praised aspect being the ability to pick your own solution to a problem depending on what sort of abilities you've picked out, want to go completely non-lethal? you can do that. that too. Gas entire rooms with really over-powered fire extinguishers? even that. And you know what? Most of you don't play enough western games be they timeless classics or not.You can find reviews here: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/08/22/review-deus-ex-human-revolution/ http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/08/22/deus-ex-human-revolution-review/ Buy it here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/28050/ Or the console of your choice, I guess.
