  1. your first statement caused me a considerable amount of brain damage, but thank you regardless for making me realize this, i guess today i'm just being very dumb and unintuitive glad i'm not the only one who thought about the coffee thing
  2. ok so i got most of them right also WHY THE HELL didn't i think of Affogato i find it so funny that Timerra and Fogato are the only two dark-skinned characters and the desserts their names reference are the only ones of the batch that feature coffee, causing them to also have a dark brown coloration this got me wondering why they picked the desert nation (Solm is the desert nation, right?) to call its characters with names inspired by italian desserts, considering the only european nation with a desert is Spain i guess they just felt like doing so
  3. well i'd be inclined to agree with you there, if only i knew what "fogato", "mistilla/mistira", melin/merin", "bone" and "seadas" were granted, not even localized names remind me of italian desserts, but i guess i shouldn't think about this too much i just find it funny, that's all EDIT: looked for those names, and apparently: -Bunet is a dessert from the Piedmont region (i knew the dessert and i find it delicious but i didn't know its name nor its origin region honestly) -Merrin is probably referring to Meringues i guess? -Timerra maybe is a corruption of Tiramisu...? -Seadas are apparently a dessert from Sardinia, actually never heard of them (some "intriguing" folks might say Sardinia isn't even part of Italy) honestly no idea about Fogado/Fogato though
  4. apparently we're not only getting a girl called Panettone, but there's also a dude called Pandoro what exactly is it that went this wrong with Engage's character names
  5. story? couldn't care less characters? i just hope they're not complete idiots my only hope for Engage is gameplay
  6. i'm italian, so if you give me a bit of time and tell me what you specifically want to know, i can translate
  7. Shadow Dragon: XaneShadows of Valentia: MycenGenealogy of the Holy War: Forseti, Edain or FebailThracia 776: LinoanBinding Blade: ZeissBlazing Blade: WilSacred Stones: SyrenePath of Radiance: The MakalovRadiant Dawn: The Older MakalovAwakening: VaikeThree Houses / Three Hopes: RheaEngage: Chloe (for her looks) or Framme (for her monk class)
  8. why do we live in a timeline where a Fire Emblem character is literally called Panettone what is this, JoJo Vento Aureo?
  9. went with Kaga for sprites and map, and Tellius for portraits Kita's style is probably my favorite artstyle ever (although iirc PoR's portraits were made by Sachiko Wada), along with Akihiko Yoshida's (Nomura's and Yoshitaka Amano's are VERY close), and i simply love how Genealogy and Thracia look, both map-wise and battle-wise i like Tellius's maps as far as level-design goes, and i find most of them to be really memorable, but they're not particularly aesthetically pleasing or inspired, same goes for Tellius battles although i love that every character had non-lethal and lethal crit animations (and imho this objectively insignificant detail should come back in new FE games)
  10. no really, you didn't hit any nerve, i just never got the chance to properly discuss about Automata and took this chance to do so (maybe a bit too aggressively, i'm sorry about that) yeah, you might hear Automata being praised for the story more than for the gameplay, but that's because people are stupid and mistake "story" for "narrative and/or writing" Automata's story is terrible and anyone that says otherwise is either delusional or doesn't know what the definition of "story" is i actually loved how Automata forces you to play with certain camera angles, because i felt like they help make some areas unique (the castle's ruins is basically a metroidvania-like area), but i can definitely see how this might be a problem for some players more potentially unpopular opinions: - Bravely Second is literally Bravely Default but better, and i really don't get how japanese players disliked it so much to the point the developers thought about abandoning the series - Inazuma Eleven GO isn't as bad as some people might remember, myself included - Bloodborne isn't the best Fromsoftware soulslike game (still haven't played Sekiro and Demon's Souls) - just like @Fabulously Olivier said, i liked Trails of Cold Steel 2 more than 3 as well - unlike many, i liked Trails in the Sky the 3rd more than Trails in the Sky Second Chapter - agreeing with @Benice, Dark Souls 1 is not that hard at all
  11. nowhere in my comment did i say you're stupid, in fact i acknowledged that the game's first hours aren't actually good, that it has many flaws and that it's understandable if you felt like it wasn't worth you while at the same time, though, it's not my problem if you didn't like it, nor is it my duty to make you appreciate it, and also me being an Automata fan doesn't mean i'm right and you're wrong in this discussion, it just means i know what i'm talking about, while you still refuse to elaborate on why is it that you think Automata's gameplay isn't good, so what i'm naturally inclined to believe is that you don't have enough informations to properly explain it (which is not necessarily a shame, mind you), hence my guesses on what your experience with Automata might have been
  12. yes it does, and if your opinion is that it doesn't my only thought is that you put the controller down after like 2 hours of gameplay, or that you dragged yourself to the end of the game but felt unengaged after an initially negative impression and never changed your mind after that because your analytical capabilities were too clouded by those negative feelings to se Automata's merits it may not be the best hack 'n slash game ever created and half of the side quests are trash gameplay-wise (the other half are really cool, like the puzzle one, the racing one and so on), but it just feels good when playing it, to the point you almost want to be as weak as possible so that battles last as much as possible, especially bosses; it's true that the game doesn't really reward you for being generally good at playing it, but there's a lot of variety in Automata that many other action games lack, and it's simply fun
  13. - Story in videogames matters less than zero: by definition videogames are supposed to have good and pleasant interactions for players first and foremost, so that they feel like they're actually doing something that deserves their time. tl;dr a bugged/glitched/boring/unengaging to play videogame that has the best story mankind has ever created is worse than a game with a shit-tier story but great gameplay (NieR:Automata) - Good narrative, on the other hand, is something any form of media that involves characters speaking needs and that's what makes a shit-tier story interesting, along with other elements such as direction, screenplay and most importantly music (again, NieR:Automata). They don't, however, save a game from being bad, should it feature a poor gameplay - Undertale is a bad game - Kingdom Hearts 3 is a good game - Xenoblade 1 is a generally worse game compared to Xenoblade 2 - Remakes changing things or being faithful depends on the games they intend to modernize, on their gameplay balance and ideas, their flaws and their poorly aged elements, and one option shouldn't automatically be picked over the other now some opinions i've read that i agree with:
  14. 00s PoR, RD and Blazing Sword no further explanation needed
  15. i'm not liking them as of now, but it's also true that, as far as characterization goes, we've seen little to nothing i fear another "everyone loves and worships you" situation, and i don't know about anyone else, but i don't play videogames so that i can feel somewhat accomplished by seeing an in-game boring and generic representation of me as aplayer being continuously praised because apparently that's what people like to see; guess what, i am not "people" this said, the apparent absence of S-rank supports kinda gives me hope in the fact that the worship factor won't be present at an unbearable level, and in the fact that there will be no child units as well design-wise, i don't dislike Alear in official artworks, but their in-game models make me think they've yet to complete their hair texture their battle animations look decently cool, at least
  16. blame PoR and RD if i say Defend is my favorite map objective
  17. i must say, at first i absolutely hated the new characters' designs, but now that i think about it i actually like a good chunk of them Alfred, Vander, Chloé, the guy with the fiery sword, the man with red hair who seems to be an enemy general, and the girl with that witch-like attire
  18. you're probably right about this, but truth be told, as i already said elsewhere, i don't expect any other FE character to appear during the main story but the 12 we already know. i can totally see DLCs adding more Emblrms, especially 3H's house leaders and others like Hector and Eliwood, and i would honestly be more than ok with that.
  19. well to be completely honest i'm quite positive that not a single non-protagonist character will appear in Engage, except maybe as DLC Emblems anyway, i don't want to see Camilla and pretty much anyone else from Fates in general, and i'd say Lysithea, Bernadetta and Edelgard
  20. yep, that's true, despite the moment when Alfred equips Sigurd's ring shows the latter is currently equipped with a Ridersbane i hope some Emblems are actually able to wield weapons of different categories just like they do in their original games, so maybe we can see Ike, Celica and Lucina with swords, and maybe even Lyn with bows and Byleth with... anything he can get his hands on?
  21. implying there are more characters available as emblem rings compared to those shown in the mural, then i'd like to see some of the missing lords, mainly Alm and Seliph, but also non-lords such as Elincia, Soren, Sothe, Levin and so on more realistically, the fact that they felt like "balancing the roster" by making Ike an axe unit, Lucina a Bow unit and Sigurd a Lance and Sword Cavalry unit makes me think that the 12 characters depicted in the mural will be the only ones we'll be able to get and use how is a mainline FE game doing a better job at representing the whole series than 2 FEW games anyway
  22. ok so, quick opinions on what i care/noticed about the game game title: they REALLY wanted to name it "Fire Emblem: The Lord of the Rings" or "The Rings of Power" but clearly couldn't, anyway it sucks that it's called "Engage" both in japanese and english, i hoped the japanese subtitle was a little bit cooler and more inspired, like 3H's fist weapons/martial artist class: this alone almost sold me the game weapon triangle is back: finally, i missed it so much, and i hope the trinity of magic comes back as well, or at least that magic has a system on its own and isn't just "ahah armor knight go boom" Heroes fanservice for home consoles: i'd take a game like this over "you choose you own path, and also your avatar is silent" any second of my life old lords redesigns: they're cool, especially sigurd. don't know why they wanted to make Heroes alts canon with ike and lucina, i guess it's just for game balancing (you could've done it too, FEW) new character designs: almost make me throw up, most of them look like they came from "random z-tier asian fantasy gacha game #739". the paladin and the pegasus knight are cool though, and fake dimitri is decent-looking. mika pikazo's artstyle is very unique and peculiar, i like it a lot, especially the bright colors, but i don't think it really fits the Fire Emblem series graphics and aesthetics: it doesn't make my eyes bleed like 3H at least gameplay hopes: the Emblems mechanic seems interesting, it's basically the Duo thing from awakening except you do it by equipping a ring (which is better than "two different units now occupy only one tile" imho), and at least to me it looks like the more similar the character equipping the ring and the character related to the ring are, the more bonuses and/or skills the former gets, and it appears like you can also get more stuff by making them bond. also, apparently Embems can wield different weapons, as we see with Sigurd wielding a lance first and then attacking with Tyrfing. don't know, sounds kinda fun to me Garreg Mach yet again: skip writing, narrative, story and worldbuilding hopes: non-existent
  23. oh right, the Fire Tribe is a thing lmao might try to get the new cuboon art for free then leave TT+ reward mordecai is cool
  24. my opinion on the matter is pretty similar to @Florete's, except i haven't played 3Hopes and don't intend to i honestly cannot bring myself to be happy about this, i fear it does nothing but making IntSys and Koei think they simply made the correct choice between "actual Fire Emblem Warriors game with more titles getting representation because that's what fans have been asking for years" and "more 3H because 3H sold well and everyone and their mothers love 3H" will Genealogy get its own Warriors game when it finally gets remade? of course not, i'm not that gullible what about the next original FE? will that get its own Warriors game? probably, as long as its sales are even remotely comparable to 3H's so yeah, i think i should just erase from my mind even the smallest glimps of hope in the fact that i'll be alive when a proper FE Warriors (the way i'd like it to be) releases
  25. how i'd like to see reclassing? absent more on topic, i'm honestly fine with whatever they come up with, as i already know i wouldn't make use of it anyway (unless i notice the game's difficulty is already in the trash can)
